I'd pay for Ehlers. I don't think Necas is worth it. - DirtyDan
I agree as long as ehlers doesn’t cost a top prospect (kulich), the 2025 1st and others. Then for one year it’s too much. I think kulich is soecial |

That’s why necas or fabree are the better options.
Shouldn’t take too much to get them. Not as large of a haul Ehlers would cost |

The only hill not worth dying on is the one centered around the Sabres doing anything positive this offseason. We're shipped off big pieces of the team and futures and yet somehow got worse.
Who is scoring goals here guys? I'll tell ya for free it won't be anyone in our bottom 6. - RhinoFan
Sabres scored (244) and allowed (243) almost the same last season.
Figuring they will allow roughly the same (better defense, not as crazy a goaltending stretch from UPL) I'm estimating they need 260 goals scored to be around a +20 differential, which should make them a playoff team.
I also did some quick math on estimated goals scored needed to make the playoffs using last season per team and the current roster based solely off last season. They'd need to find 40 more goals then the current roster scored last season to get to 260, which would be 16th in the league.
If they make no further additions, can they find 40 combined additional goals from Tuch, Tage, Cozens, Quinn and Benson?
That's an average of 8 more goals per player, and I'm not factoring in any additional scoring from the defense.
I don't think it's a big stretch. The only one I'd question is Benson. |

Shame on the Franchise - Buff36
Developing that is part of why Skinner is gone. They’re are going to demand 200’ effort out of everyone. Skinner’s game sets a bad example. The fourth line bringing some energy and pop just may be contagious throughout the line up.

Ehlers is fake available, hence the nonsense return Winnipeg is attempting to get. |

This goes for every team in the league, but what will help that is good health.
A full season from Quinn goes a long way towards those 40 goals. |

Just look at last year's opening night roster. 5 or 6 spots where you can say woof. That is a third of the roster. Hell, if just the PP went right last year, we would have been right there, and that is before getting rid of all of the anchors. I think people here tend to be overly-smitten with teams that make a lot of moves. - Slump Buster
Aren't the Sabres one of those teams that made a lot of moves this offseason...? |

He scored 9 last year in 27 games.
How many more do you think he'll have?
Triple it?
18 more from him would mean a full season of health, and would make a big dent in that 40 goal hole they're in, without another top 6 coming via trade. |

It’s a tough realization to find out our prospects aren’t viewed as high as we think/hope. - Stripes77
It was always going to go this way unless they either traded one of the 1st's before they made the pick, or packaged one of their freshly selected 1st round picks in a deal.
Nobody trades freshly picked 1st round picks, and the Sabres weren't interested in trading their pick before they made the pick.
First round picks don't rarely gain value, and they don't often maintain value well.
They usually lose value, not long after the pick is made. |

A benefit of Quinn being healthy and producing like that? Cozens likely has a bounce back year.
There's a lot of pressure on that top 6. Hope they're ready for it. |

It certainly is. Adams said he's open to any length of term, which might not work in our favor. |

Way faster. If Erod and Hecht had an extremely fast, large mouthed son who shot the puck directly at the goalie's chest, that baby would be Ryan McLeod |

An arb award wouldn't be the worst thing, but usually when it gets to that point, the player is gone the following year.
I don't get why Kev leaves so much in the hands of a player. They shouldn't even be considering a long term deal.
