Yeah I saw that earlier, didn't want to rile anyone up. I would take a shot at him if they Retained 3mill. Only actually cost 3mill in actual Cash the last 2 years then. He's not like Clifton where you hope you can add 2 or 3 min a night. Actually want to take a few minutes away, keep him fresher, PK Duties and protect and Teach Power. |

See a lot being written about San Jose looking for D, wonder if Joker could get Granlund in some sort of package. |

Trouba is just a sauna away from being Erik Johnson, but with an added 5 million per. Someone put up Trouba's last years fancy stats and he wasn't any better than Joker. |

I would want a guy with more Goal production, somewhere in that 25G range. More of a finisher , although a good amount of Primary Assist would be nice as well.
25G-25PA-15SA would be lovely, or at least a solid probability he can get there in a year or 2 |

Yeah you probably only get 15G from him but the guy can dish. Had 48 assists last year, guy could create 20-25 goals for us. |

Trouba - don't hate it and don't love it (would prefer Kakko if we're dealing with NYR). Only way I see Trouba being traded is a three team deal. NYR wants cap relief, and Trouba probably has all the teams with cap space on his 15 team no-trade list (he does not want to leave NYC area). So need third team to take cap dump from a team that doesn't currently have the space (and likely not on his list). |

I am certainly not about playing Trouba 25 minutes a game. But and I’m just playing devils advocate here, if he was playing 3rd pair minutes, he brings a much needed edge on the blue line.
I am not advocating for a goon type player, but I am pretty tired of seeing players take runs at Dahlin, meaning Cozens and Tuch having to be the guys who have to drop the gloves just to send the message that we will fight back. The Sabres teams of the last 2-3 years have been so soft. Like it or not but it is still part of the game.
We brought in some team speed and grit, but I think there is some toughness lacking on the blue line when Clifton being all 5’10 180 pounds is our most “physical” defensemen.
Trouba with 30% retained and a pick for Joker is something I would heavily consider. |

Good Post! If they Retained I think he would be a decent add, you are not trying to add minutes to his game, take 3 minutes away, play the PK and let those kids back there play Hockey and hopefully learn something. It's not always about the stat sheets, it's also the presence he could bring. |

Retain and send Othmann. Send Joker. Play third line minutes. |

This is my thinking. A retained Trouba plus a sweetener is worth having a serious conversation about. |

It would be great if Power and Sammy could develop some consistent snarl to their games. They're both young enough to not be too set in their ways and maybe Ruff can bring out somma that.
If they do bring in someone at any position to be the enforcer/deterrent I just hope the guy can actually play and not be a liability. |
