All these youngerish players need to get NHL time to figure out if any fit going forward.
They have so many of the same type players yet it will be a Brink type that will end up sitting. Not that there is a ton of quality, there is a lot of bodies. - furio16

Anxious to see what MJL would say about this. He said they don't have to trade anyone.
My guess, send ND to AHL and sit Hathay.
That would leave Laughton, RP and Cates on the 4th line. - WhiskeyMan
Zero chance nd gets sent to ahl. You don’t do that to culture guy |

I agree they wont send him down.
From what hear, Farabee is a glue guy for the young players. They all go to his house to play video games instead of going out to bars. It was even reported that fedotov was hanging out with him at development camp.
Laughton is the odd man out. He has to be traded.

Although I feel like Farabee has yet to live up to his deal, Farabee’s offensive numbers suggest he’s able to have a breakout season. He’s only improved the last 3 seasons. I’d be looking to move TK now! If there is a market for Laughton, he’s gotta go. If Morgan Frost isn’t going to be properly used, goodbye to him as well…although he just might be ready to breakout as well. |

The only thing I hope for at this point is since they aren’t trading anyone that they have an epic failure to start the season and db gets roasted and by time home game 2 they are booing them off the ice |

I wonder why Fletcher didn’t sign Gauthier to an ELC immediately after his first development camp? Seems like a no brainier to lock up his his top 5 draft pick as soon as he could since Fletcher apparently promised the kid a roster spot after his first season. |

I think given the Flyers lack of center depth they have to hold on to Frost, especially since he is the only center I think they have that can play with Michkov. |

6 picks in the first two rounds of the 2025 draft and no serious free agent signing is not proof they are in a rebuild? Trading Sean Walker at the deadline for a 1st round pick when the team with him would have made the playoffs, is not proof of a rebuild?
Now if you tell me the Flyers don't seem to be completely committed to a rebuild given they have not moved out more players, I agree with you. That is why to me I am judging Briere on what he does the rest of this off season and at the deadline. If he does not do whatever he can to assure that this team is picking in the top 10, perferably in the top 5, I will have lost faith in him and will no longer support his plan. Torts can still coach to win every game and the players should be exepcted to play as hard as they can, but in the end the Flyers will not win many games because they simply will not have the horses, because Briere will trade as many veteran horses as he can. That is how it has to be IMO.
- jd250
First sentence, second paragraph… so as it stands today you agree this is not a rebuild? - Flyfly
It’s just like I stated, if Briere does not trade more veteran players and get this team into the top 10, his rebuild plan as I understand it makes zero sense to me. Picking 16th does not move the needle and get you elite talent, unless you get extremely lucky. |

Suddenly, an expected boring season of mediocrity has turned into must-see hockey.
..
But even Lindros didn’t turn the Flyers into instant contenders. Remember?
The Flyers have already kicked off their PR campaign through the local media. Invoking Lindros when talking about Michkov as the only reason to watch the Flyers in 2024-25 and using "mediocrity" to describe the rest of the roster. No mention of Tippet, Koneckny, etc. Name checked Lindros's linemates tho.
They have set expectations so low that if the worst happens, it's to be expected, but if this team matches last year's total (very likely they are around the same area) the fans will probably push Torts for coach of the year again. It's a disservice to the younger players but it insulates the triumvirate from any bad press. |

I believe the Flyers are going to drop in the standings some this year compared to last season.

Yes, that's right. I looked this up this morning because I was curious. Ok, can't beat on Fletcher for this one :-) |

Yes, but my concern is will they drop enough to get a chance at an elite player? I think Briere has got to make more trades to give himself the best chance. I think he knows it also. |

The NHL rewards tanking, and only tanking. Chicago, Edmonton, Avs, Pit, Tampa, SJ,…Keeping veterans with trade value is not a rebuild, and it is exactly what has kept this team mediocre for so long…that and ridiculous salary cap management which also continues unabated. The more things change the more they stay the same. NOBODY should be receiving long term high dollar deals that is above the age of 25. Couterier? Huge mistake. Risto? Huge mistake. Konecny? Probably another huge mistake. This team never seems to learn from its mistakes and is obsessed with making the same ones over and over again. What is Laughton and Konecny and Coots and Risto and Ellis and that goalie that is so terrible, makes $5m a year and i can’t even remember his name still doing here? We need a young 1st line center, we have Konecny and 6 picks in the 1st two rounds to trade. What’s the holdup? Add Frost to that list too. |

The last scrimmage of development camp should be everyone sitting in the press box while old veteran grinders with no future in the sport play. This will actually prepare them for what the organization is really like. |

The point I don’t get ….Briere was the assistant GM at the time ? No? He would have been privy to what was being said to him and what was “promised”. |

Maybe he could start with one trade….maybe move “one” guy that hurts….you know to get the whole rebuild off and running. |
