it does matter. Then you more than likely have to overpay vets to fill those roles.
- hello it's me 2050

No it doesn’t matter. Nobody has to do anything. It takes two sides to agree on contract which both sides did when talking about the Flyers and Hathaway. If you don’t like a player and don’t agree on a price, don’t pay that price. Simple.

No doubt they are because they think Briere is weak. Tortorella basically showed the league as much when Briere was given the interim title and sat next to him in the box and let his assistant coaches finish the season. Once the trade deadline hits Konecny has all the leverage. This looks like either Briere overpays or he is traded and it would be shocking if he is traded.
- psuhockey

This is quite a stretch lol. I just would think with $60M on the line, TK and his camp would want this thing completed through a signing or trade/signing

Maybe buyout ND next season or send him to the Phantoms?
- WhiskeyMan

They’re never going to do this…

It's a stretch that a player would use his UFA leverage to get a better deal? That he would let it ride into the season and the deadline? Happens all the time. How many players just did that this past season?

That’s a bunch of crap and completely illogical. It was a bs excuse to sell to the 90 % of non critical thinking idiot fans. You aren’t 1 of them.

The fans wouldn’t have given 2 poops once he hit the ice and scored a goal. Come on man. We know this.

Look at lindros drama. Did anyone turn on player or team because of whatever? No they did not. When lindros hit the ice everyone stood and cheered.

- Stayin alive

OK, agree to disagree. Its a different era with social media and the way the internet works. Definitely not illogical to see it playing out differently in 2024 as opposed to what happened during the Lindros era. And be that as it may, plenty turned on Lindros and still hate him to this day.

And as I said, that is what I believe the Flyers thought. You think they thought differently.

The disappointment for Coots mostly came at the front end of his career.

He never really matched the pre-draft expectation of being a 1OA quality prospect and took quite awhile to get going offensively (partly thanks to Chief).

He's had a fine career after that, of course.

- Tomahawk

Absolutely. Not the Couturier has ever been useless offensively, his offensive skills took many seasons to develop. In mind mind he’s only had two reason solid years, both with Giroux on his left side. If Coots doesn’t hurt his back, who knows what he looks like without G in a full 82 season?

Tk is exactly the type of player who gets overpaid in free agency. Snow the goalie podcast said as much with Therien who had the same agent said they are married to a number and prepared to wait with the cap going up. There is no way he is only signing for $60. With Reinhart taking so little they are better off waiting unless Briere blinks first.

Stamkos doesn’t leave Tampa if he doesn’t bet on himself. The offer Tampa gave him was kind of spitting in his face.

Who said it was a stretch? He has a lot of money on the line. He and his camp might want this taken care of. Guys sign extensions before their last year all the time. It was literally a question to the guy close to the team asking if they were comfortable going into the year without an extension. Pay attention Cliff

Comprehension always avoids you. First off Stamkos wasn’t betting on himself 😂. This was a situation of a player trying to stick with his team, who has been there for what 15 years? TK is a totally different scenario. This is an enormous payday for him. Stamkos has been paid. Not that money wasn’t the deciding factor , but to compare these scenarios…a moron as usual

“It’s been reported. “ “it came down to flyers not wanting to pay him”

Is this logical?
No
Could it have been a factor?
Yes certainly
We don’t know the reason because db has never publicly said what the reason for not signing cutter In March.

The story ends there. Ef claims one thing. Mjl claims another. Asf claims another. I claim another. You claim another. It’s all bs. WE SIMPLY DONT KNOW FOR SURE.

Hers what facts are that we do know and they are undisputable

1) cutter wasn’t signed in March. Had to return for year 2 off college and was obviously upset

2) cutter ghosted and stopped communicating directly with team. All communication through agent

3) philly decided and executed a trade

4) philly had 100% control of player under the cba and it was 100 % their decision how to play their hand.

In the final analysis these are the only facts that are undisputed and the rest is he said she said from people that aren’t the direct source. In court this is called hearsay and I object. I don’t care what the “word” from Philly is according to ef. HEARSAY. I don’t care what the word from Bundy is from his agent HEARSAY.

the RESULTS are 100% on db and flyers because they had 100% control of the situation under the cba.

- Stayin alive

You conveniently left out the part that Cutter was in college and had he waited the 4 years (only 2 more after this year) he was a free agent and the Flyers would only get a 2nd round comp pick loosing him that way. So no Flyers not in “complete control” of situations long term. And that was the risk DB was not willing to take, I agree with him.

Everyone gets overpaid in free agency lol chandler Stephenson just got $40M. Was just throwing off an example that he had a ton of money on the line. So those guys said his camp was willing to wait it out it sounds

Two totally different scenarios. First overall, cup winning, team captain, looking to stay with team on a short term deal with proper compensation. One is looking for a long term deal on his first and only big payday when looking at his other contracts. It’s not close to the same .

No, it's not. Both according to the CBA are players who are either an UFA or about to be a UFA. Both are using that leverage in their contract negotiations to get the contract they want. Which is the relevant factor in the conversation that you ignorantly stated was quite the stretch. That makes a large part of their situation, identical. Smarten up.

orgineyzation.
