That's why I am starting to think the Flyers are trading TK, because paying a 2nd line RW $8M+ for 7-8 years just does not make sense, even if the team was not rebuilding. - jd250
I thought TK was a guy you build a team around?

I assume the Caps need to do something to get cap compliant before the season starts. They are $13mil over and only have Backstrom's $9.2mil to put on LTIR. Oshie seems like the logical guy to move. |

I had to stop reading for a second after the "baffling swap of the 32nd pick" honestly. That was a good move for Danny IMO. - Flyfly
Certainly wasn't baffling.

Agreed - it was a good move. At worst you are picking at the same position in a much deeper draft.

I read the whole thing and agree w/ most of it. In my post I said I stopped reading for a second...
2024 was pretty much a lost year in the "rebuild" other than having MM come over. Anyone that thought or thinks this is a rebuild are just moronic fan/shills for the Flyers. Once again we are punting to another season. |

Unfortunately, I think the results will be all to similar. Middling team with a good but not great pipeline and a team that will not make prudent decisions regarding veteran players.

Poehling has not come close to proving he is better than Laughton. - MJL
Statistically they were probably the two most similar forwards on the team last season. Laughton scored more on special teams, while Poehling had much better goals against results at 5on5.
https://www.naturalstattr...ines=single&draftteam=ALL
Laughton
11:52 per game at 5on5
1.36 P/60 at 5on5
3.27 GA/60 at 5on5 (worst out of all Flyer forwards > 100 TOI)
48.9% faceoffs
5 PPP
8 SHP
Poehling
12:08 per game at 5on5
1.28 P/60 at 5on5
2.69 GA/60
49.2% faceoffs

I liked that trade..I think they will end up with a better player at the end of it all. The rest of the article was pretty spot on though.

I don't have high expectations for the Edmonton pick, which was the Giroux pick from Florida. Waiting three plus years to get the return when you're heading into your 5th straight season of missing the playoffs is not a great look. |

In my opinion Laughton should not be playing center. He is best on the wing. So I think comparing them as centers should favor Poehling at least a little bit. That said neither player was great 5 on 5. I would take Laughton over Poehling if I was a GM.
Laughton on the wing > Poehling at center

Poehling is younger and cheaper and center is a more important position. |

Hilarious. Especially since the events are charity fundraisers and the Alumni board members are not paid a single cent for their time and work.

Nice article comparing Briere and Hextall as gm of the Flyers... good read.
https://brotherlypuck.com...nd-danny-briere-rebuilds/ - TheFreak
The draft comparison is pretty bad. So far the Flyers have got York, Brink and Foerster as actual NHL players out the Flahr drafts. It's almost certain Michkov will be a good NHL player, but that's not true of any of the rest of them. It would not be a shock at all if players like Bonk and Luchanko flame out the way Rubtsov and O'Brien did.

I thought I read somewhere that oshue is going to have surgery that may prevent him from playing next season.

Solid logic there by Briere.
