There are three outcomes.
1. They trade him for the best return available. Whatever that turns out to be.
2. They let him go for nothing in FA and have the cap space.
3. They sign him to a long term big money deal.
1 is preferable to 2. 1 and 2 are preferable to 3. - MBFlyerfan
2 would be so funny. Beyond funny and to me a fireable offense. |

Maybe Bundy is running this rumor out there so that when the Flyers get fleeced on a TK trade they can make it seem like they had to move him for whatever they could get because he made it impossible for them to get fair value. - Dkos
Maybe and that's an example of what I mean. When he was on the outside of the team, he was ripping them. Now that he kinda sorta works for the team as a mouth piece, the team is in his good graces again. I think he's a channel for the team.

I would STILL prefer it to signing him long term.
And you wait. They let this drag out all season and come playoff time they are in it again. Do they trade him at the deadline like they did Walker and torpedo their playoff hopes again?

yes better option.
not sure what they do as too early to tell as several variables will be in play at that time. they also had no attachment to walker |

Yes. This is the path they’re headed down. They absolutely will not. I have no evidence but I bet hilferty and alumni are salty as hell about not making the playoffs after trading Walker. |

It is also why I believe(D) that they would make a deal this offseason one way or the other. If I were the leadership I would not want that distraction throughout the whole season.

I think the organization is doing it on purpose to say "see? We knew it would hurt us but we had to do what is right for the future"

It doesn’t have to be a distraction. Tell media that no konecny trade based questions will be entertained throughout the season. Locker room distraction? Were there any teams that had more ufas than Florida this year? Carolina? They seemed to do just fine.
Eagles will either be a circus or be good. Sixers will be good. This doesn’t have to be much of a thing |

People keep saying this. But the Flyers aren't a win now team making a cup run who would be adding pieces if anything, not trading away key parts for future assets. |

Or he’ll be injured. Should have been traded at the draft but here we are. Trade him ASAP. |

Even if they kept him they’re probably getting swept 1st round. One of the few things they’ve done right recently was move him. |

Comcast basically owns the entire press room now so idk who would even be asking these questions at this point.
It’d be nice to see someone worth a damn keep the front office/players honest but it’s just not gonna happen. |

I read the whole thing and agree w/ most of it. In my post I said I stopped reading for a second...
2024 was pretty much a lost year in the "rebuild" other than having MM come over. Anyone that thought or thinks this is a rebuild are just moronic fan/shills for the Flyers. Once again we are punting to another season. - Flyfly
I can't see how this team is not picking top 7, worst goaltending and defense, yes offense will be better with mm coming over but I just don't see us doing better the 25th

Tony was always fun to watch and seemed to be giving his all. I can't blame him for going off on Kjell, who should not have been the head coach of the Phantoms.
Rest in peace Tony. Condolences to his family in such a terrible time. |

Unsurprisingly, the Columbus Blue Jackets haven’t been very active this offseason, but they need to quickly tie up some loose ends.
For starters, the Blue Jackets have only five NHL defensemen contracted for the 2024-25 season, unless the plan is to finally integrate top prospect David Jiricek into the lineup. Blossoming forwards Kirill Marchenko, Cole Sillinger, and Kent Johnson all need new contracts, too.
Oh, and they don’t even have a head coach yet.
Could the Flyers trade Farabee and a pick for Sillinger? Or make a run at Jiricek? |

If the team stays the way they are now, I can see the Flyers ending up 5th in the metro, behind the Devils, Rangers, Hurricanes and close to the Caps. To me this is still purgatory. The Flyers might end up 7th lowest in the East, but out of bottom 10 in the league. If Briere can't make trades now, he needs to have a big trade deadline to get this team firmly in the bottom 10. |

It's tough to trade veteran players that no other team wants. Maybe things change at the deadline, that is my only hope. |

Agreed. No guarantee they make the playoffs with Walker...it has become the rallying call of the "rebuild is actually happening"

1. Do we know that the Flyers are even trying to trade anyone? It's well documented that the Flyers tell the fans what they want to hear.
2. If they are trying to trade are they honest in their evaluations of the player. Publicly saying a fair offer isn't enough for a player (ie. laughton) means he will never get traded, not that someone wouldn't trade for him at the right price.
3. Extending marginal vets. Plenty of teams want vet players on expiring contracts for a playoff run at the TDL, not a role player who has 3 yrs left to run and will be 35 at the end of the contract. There are unsigned vets who could fill the roles of the 4th liners, 3rd pair players the Flyers extended right now, for 1/2 the price.

Caps sold off Mantha and Edmundson at the TDL too... they aren't rebuilding. Just also didn't want to lose them for nothing. |

Nice interview with Briere. For those who are open-minded, start at the 8 minute mark to hear his rational for drafting Luchenko, and then Briere talks about what he could do with the 6 picks in next year's draft. |
