1. Do we know that the Flyers are even trying to trade anyone? It's well documented that the Flyers tell the fans what they want to hear.
2. If they are trying to trade are they honest in their evaluations of the player. Publicly saying a fair offer isn't enough for a player (ie. laughton) means he will never get traded, not that someone wouldn't trade for him at the right price.
3. Extending marginal vets. Plenty of teams want vet players on expiring contracts for a playoff run at the TDL, not a role player who has 3 yrs left to run and will be 35 at the end of the contract. There are unsigned vets who could fill the roles of the 4th liners, 3rd pair players the Flyers extended right now, for 1/2 the price.

Under Briere and Jones the buzz word has been transparency. Now if you think they are selling BS, it really doesn't matter what they say. But yes, I've seen multiple reports that the Fyers have dangled Farabee, Frost and Laughton out there and have not got a lot of interest. Are these reports true? Who knows for sure.

Briere specifically said he got a LOT of interest for Laughton and turned down deals because he wanted more than fair value.

Nice interview with Briere. For those who are open-minded, start at the 8 minute mark to hear his rational for drafting Luchenko, and then Briere talks about what he could do with the 6 picks in next year's draft.

You seem to be badly confused on what being open minded means. It doesn't mean having blind allegiance and buying into and rubber stamping everything Briere says. I'll listen to it when I can but I'm not really interested in hearing what Briere could do. Really only interested in what he does do.

Can you link to one report? Just one, not a lot to ask for because I guarantee what you're inferring, does not exist.

I think trading Walker and losing Seeler to injury had a lot to do with not making the playoffs. They were our best pair all season. It would be naive to believe otherwise. Losing Carter Hart also didn’t help.

That is all…

Is there any indication that Briere has changed his stance? So why wouldn't that also apply currently. Seeing as Laughton has not been traded.

If the team stays the way they are now, I can see the Flyers ending up 5th in the metro, behind the Devils, Rangers, Hurricanes and close to the Caps. To me this is still purgatory. The Flyers might end up 7th lowest in the East, but out of bottom 10 in the league. If Briere can't make trades now, he needs to have a big trade deadline to get this team firmly in the bottom 10.

Easy bottom 7 in the league
