Why am I reading these paeans to Wes Clark like his leaving was some terrible blow to the Toronto Maple Leafs? Did I miss the Leafs drafting being something other than mediocre since forever?

Drysaddle is a center who's scored 50 plus goals on three occasions....and more importantly has carried his team several times in the playoffs.
Matthews is great, one of the best players the leafs have ever had.
Drysaddle is a beast on most nights

Except when it mattered most. Can't win the Cup with him, that was just proven.

Nah, it was just proven that he's less effective when injured for long stretches. Happens to most.

"Cant win a cup with him"........ah yes....memories of Kessel.

Everyone seemed to love him during the draft. "I trust Wes" was theme when the leafs moved down.

As for his record....still pretty early...he oversaw the drafting Durzi, Knies, Sandin, Amirov, Robertson, Cowan, Holmberg, minten, tverberg and others.

So far 3 nhl'ers and 2 in and outers (robertson, holmberg).
Not bad.

I wish him failure with dubas.

When did this conversation switch to Barkov?

- Scabeh

Pfft - he's never even scored 40 goals in his career nevermind 69 (he scored a whopping 23 this year).

Fine he's a centre (I seriously just see him racking up points with McJesus on the PP and mistakenly thought he was a winger). lol

He's poop defensively in comparison to Matthews though.

So do you take Drysaddle over Matthews if you can only have one?

Does that also apply to Matthews and Nylander this playoff or is that rule only for teams not named the Toronto Maple Leafs?

Ah one of those whiny days i see.
:😜

Breaking news:
If they dont play in the games, due to injury then yes they are less effective.

He was head of amateur scouting for the last 3 drafts. His highest pick was 28 (Cowan). He also took Danford (31), Minten (38) Hildeby (122).

That's the thing with amateur head scouts, you never know when the team select a player if it was the head scout decision or the GM. Ultimately the head scout makes a recommendation to the GM and the final decision to go with player A or B comes to the GM. Applies to every team in the NHL.

Is this guy still getting talked about? lol

He took a notable promotion and went to a new team. Pretty simple. He’s now a vice president of player personnel where for the leafs he was just the assistant director of player personnel. He is sticking with the guy who initially gave him a job and now he’s getting a raise. This isn’t dramatic at all, just media looking for something to gain attention with, pretty sad that it works lol.

No Name Pringles knock-offs just aren't the same. But I can't tell if it's the chips themselves, or nothing tastes quite as good since Wes Clark was ripped away from us.
