It's not impossible but certainly a lot more difficult.

You take two players equally motivated but one is 6'4, 220 and the other is 5'10", 180 and they both go into a corner in the playoffs. There's only so much motivation that smaller player can have to overcome that type of difference, night after night, year after year.

That's why there are weight classes in boxing and MMA. It's an obvious, usually insurmountable advantage if both players are equally trained and motivated, which, they usually are.

The smaller guy is usually much faster.
In fights, Ive seen so many "big" get a beat down from "smaller" guys.

The hockeybuzz filter is one of the main reason I'm glad the Habs didn't draft Richardenson.

Because i'd have to get banned every time talking about him by going around the filter.

Oh you mean like when Bab-Schlong was the leaf coach and the filter refused to allow you to type his actual name. lol

Schlongenson would have worked fine.

For those of you looking for a new Leafs jersey, they are currently banging them out on the Adidas.ca website.

They are on sale for $150 for a blank (blue, white, Bieber), and then you click on a button to apply another discount in your shopping basket.

$115 all in.

Actually I’m looking to get rid of mine! I’ll remove the Gilmour name tag then maybe burn it.

In some catch weight fights I've seen the bigger guy just get on top and pound the living bejesus out of the smaller guy. Or even at the heavyweight class - like I remember when Lesnar outweighed Mir by 20 pounds and it really showed in the ground game. I know Mir submitted him the first time they met, but Lesnar was still pretty new to MMA at the time.

That all said - and staying on topic - if you break down the NHL among guys who played more than 20 games last year:

721 players played more than 20 games. 35% of these players were defensemen.

141 of them were under 6 feet tall; 31 (22%) were defenseman.
124 were "exactly" 6 feet tall; 37 (30%) were defensemen.
456 were over 6 feet tall; 184 (40%) were defensemen.

Forwards under 6ft tall averaged 41.9pts / 82; Defense averaged 27.2
Forwards at 6ft tall averaged 41.1pts / 82; Defense averaged 29.8
Forwards over 6ft tall averaged 38.4pts / 82; Defense averaged 25.8

So it's a tougher road if you're a smaller guy for sure, but if you're in that mix, you are, on average, a better point producer.

He has made some decent drafts, but honestly, its not like he has hit home runs yet. There are many other orgs that have drafted far better. I never got why the Leafs just didnt go buy the best scouts from all the other orgs lol.
- Archaic

He’s had 3 drafts as head of amateur scouting. His earliest picks were #28 (Cowan), 31 (Danford) and 38 (Minten). He also picked up Hildeby at 122. Minten just turned 20 last week. What exactly were you expecting?

I don’t care if you remove the name - you burn a Gilmour jersey and I will personally punch your balls.

I already have guys DMing me - telling me they will drive me there and pay for gas.

P.S. Don’t even try to bullpoop me that it was a Godynyuk jersey. That will be another ball-punch.
