It wasn’t Drury, could have come from the Detroit organization. Once the calls are made and the process begins, more than a few people knew about it. Including Trouba’s agent.

Yzerman doesn't leak anything although i could see him pissed off at Drury for the way he handled this. He made a deal without even talking to Trouba that had a NMC at the time and then asks him to waive it. When Trouba says no, he goes and asks for him to submit his 15 no trade list early and Trouba refuses again. Then Trouba makes sure to put Detroit on his list so he won't be traded.

All this after Yzerman made 2 trades he didn't have to make to fit Trouba in. Yzerman wasted his time and some assets with Drury when he could have just went after a UFA like Pesce or Montour but they likely had already decided where they were going to sign by the time Yzerman knew for sure he wasn't getting Trouba.
