For most people like me its easy but for people like yourself and MBFlyerFan I understand it must be very hard, so I will put things in bullet points to help you understand:

1. Multiple reports have stated that since the end of the season, the Flyers have offered Frost, Farabee, Risto and Laughton in trades.

2. In his media availability after the draft, Briere confirmed he has had talks with teams about trades but those deals would need to happen by mid July the latest since people leave for summer vacation and things quiet down after that.

reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdBD0xjpiNk

3. Its July 10th and not only has there been no trades made, there is not even a hint of a deal pending from any reputable source that I have seen.

Given these three basic facts, I conclude the Flyers must not have received any offers that they would consider and going into this season their lineup will be what it currently is. I maintain that this lineup has a real chance to be better than last year's lineup since Cam is gone, Deslauriers will be relegated to the 13th forward and Michkov is in the lineup. This concerns me greatly.

Can you grasp all this? I know there is a lot here, so read slowly several times so you can understand, and then commence with your childish and borish bashing.

Good day.

1) there are no reports of db offering any player in trade. You interpret “sources” saying that as truth. We simply don’t know for a fact that db offered anybody inn trade

2) yes briere has stated he has been offered trade scenarios and has turned them down. All that simply means is at minimum he has answered the phone and listened. Does not prove he offered anyone.

What Briere was offered for Laughton at the trade deadline last year is completely irrelevant to the current situation. Teams often overpay at the deadline for players because they are more desperate at the deadline to make a run in the playoffs. I am discussing the hear and the now, and its not a BIG leap to presume that Briere has not got any offers which he deems serious enough given what I laid out prior. I never said this was a fact. This is what I think. THAT IS ALL I SAID. That RIGHT NOW, not last trade deadline, Briere has not received any serious offers for the players he wants to trade. Is this so controversial or incorrect that it deserves this many words of back and forth? MB brought up last trade deadline, not me. So if anyone is changing context here, its him. This is the last I will say about it.

So it doesn’t matter what db was offered in trade?

But he choose to think db and jones aren’t dumb.?

So you want vets moved?

Db said he had fair trade for a vet “laughts) but turned it down.

Well is that db bring smart or dumb?

what shill he is

"Briere and the Flyers have made it clear that they want to re-sign Konecny, preferably by the end of this summer, so that the specter of his looming UFA status in the summer of 2025 doesn’t loom over his entire season. Had the Flyers done the opposite — revealed publicly or through strategic leaks that Konecny was available to the highest bidder — it would have sent the message to the fanbase that the front office very much still views this as a long-term, future-focused rebuild."

I’d trade Laughton for Krebs +. Not Farabee.

BUT if Krebs is what the Flyers think will turn it around, they are more F’ed then previously thought.

TK negotiating hard and the Flyers just sitting pat is so sad. This team is an absolute dumpster fire.

I like Charlie. He is on the record saying the obvious- trade TK. But he also acknowledges that they won’t be doing that.

Then what’s he doing. He should be ragging all over them in his pieces. These writers are as complacent as the owners. Pathetic.

The other day, I read Bill's memoriam to Tony Voce and then happened to glance across to find MJL's musing to all about living every day of their lives, because one never knows when their time is up etc.

That post made me sn1gger so loudly on the Amtrak quiet car that the conductor looked at me admonishingly.

Anyway, if (god forbid) if mankind did suffer that calamitous loss occurring while ranting on HB, I thought I would offer up my own personal epitaph:

This shows what kind of person you are by using an expression of sympathy for the death of someone, to take a shot at someone. You couldn't be a smaller person and this just shows what a piece of poop you are. Reminds me of the times you attempted to use the death of my Father, shared on HB against me.

It also shows how I'm living in your head and have a mastery over you. You are a tiny little boy.

100% agree with this. That’s why I really don’t like Charlie. Always the softball questions or follow up if any follow up. Then goes and writes and podcast how he’d do it different etc. same as all the media involving flyers.

The only one I like is bill matz but he’s not really media. Just a slub fan with podcast that usually is honest

Ohhh was that about MBFF?? I assumed it was MJL. I would miss MBFF too. Quite non-ovine for his political persuasion. The only one, I believe.

Aneeway, I wrote another morbid little ditty for MJL. I am rather proud of this one.

Who is the stupid one?

Players can only sign a contract for up to seven years. If they re-sign with their current team, the maximum length is eight years which can result in possible sign-and-trade deals.
- NHL salary cap rules

- jd250

The 2013 CBA, which is still in effect, capped new contracts at seven years. There was an exception written in for teams that wanted to give their own players — RFAs or UFAs — one more year.

(b) The following practices also shall not be permitted under this Agreement and may not be included in any SPC, nor otherwise agreed to by any Club, any person or any entity:

(iv) An SPC with a term of greater than seven (7) years, provided, however, that a Club may sign a Player to an SPC with a term of up to eight (8) years if that Player was on such Club’s Reserve List as of and since the most recent Trade Deadline. With respect to potential Unrestricted Free Agents only, the ability to re-sign a Player to an SPC of eight (8) years expires when the Player becomes an Unrestricted Free Agent. With respect to a Player who becomes a Group 2 Restricted Free Agent, a Club may sign such Player to an SPC with a term of up to eight (8) years provided such Player was on such Club’s Reserve List and/or Restricted Free Agent List as of and since the most recent Trade Deadline.

Article 50.8

The Reserve List includes unsigned drafted players, and any other unsigned player a team may have the exclusive signing rights to. All players who have to be signed to an ELC cannot get a longer term since ELC rules mandate the term of the contract. Any player who is due a contract as an RFA or UFA and was on the team signing them at the trade deadline can get an eight-year deal.

Meaning anyone trading for TK before the trade deadline can sign him to an 8 year contract.

I thought what jd250 meant was: offer TK a 7 year extension. Let him know that if he doesn't sign it, we will just let him walk and not trade him by 24-25 TDL. Then, if he hits UFA, he risks getting injured by then and getting lower $, and not getting any more than the 7 year deal we were offering anyway.

I am not sure what would be achieved by offering 7 instead of 8, and I am not sure TK's agent wouldn't call that bluff, and perhaps I am misunderstanding, but I don't see the error in his understanding.

He incorrectly thinks that the Flyers can leverage Konecny into taking a 7 year deal because he erroneously thinks that the Flyers are the only team that can offer him 8 years. In contract talks, it's all about leverage. Konecny can simply say, if you don't give me 8 years, then I'm not signing. The error in his understanding is that he is simply incorrect that the Flyers are the only team that could offer him 8 years. A team trading for him before the deadline, could also offer 8 years. The Flyers don't have the leverage to force him to accept a 7 year deal.

They actually do, on paper. If they don't offer him a 8 year deal but 7 instead, and dont trade him, he is choosing between a 7 year deal sooner versus one later.
