Very entertaining.
Also quite funny reading the Flyers subreddit about EJ reaching out to Michov. Classic. |

The issues seemed to be that he got an abdominal injury in January. Had surgery on it after the season. Hopefully Torts won't be dumb and play him 20+ minutes a night while regularly healthy scratching his only other playmaking center this season.

I agree they should watch Coots’ minutes closely but the moment Torts does anything right by Coots or the best interest of the team, many get upset. Sean Couturier gets the “C” but he looks like crap, so he gets scratched and here comes the outrage. Sean Couturier doesn’t produce, gets demoted to the 4th line, here comes the outrage. Sean Couturier cannot score, he’s taken off the PP, here comes the outrage. Guys, he looks really bad. I’m almost positive Coots doesn’t have a highlight of him scoring with that “C” on his chest. |

That's how I took it. The previous poster lumped him in with other college players who have forced their way out of a team they didn't want to play for. I don't get the sense that is the case with McGroarty.

TK and Laughton both are the moves that will confirm the Flyers true intentions. My hope is that the Flyers have drawn a line in the sand on the AAV for TK and that TK's reps take a hardline forcing the Flyers to trade him. I 100% believe TK is resigned at some point this season and I think that is a mistake.
Laughton will get traded at the 2026 TDL if he gets moved. Personally, I think it is 70-30 that he does not get traded.
Moving neither proves the Flyers are what most of us think they are. Trading both would be a pleasant surprise. My money is on both being Flyers for at least 4 more seasons. - mickel25
There should be no line drawn nor never should have been a thought.
Nice new regime took over you are basically given 2 years by any fanbase to rid players with value to jumpstart rebuild. They haven’t done it. And they aren’t as they’ve had a little over a year and multiple golden times to do it. 2 drafts 2 tdl and free agent periods. Once they sign long term tk it’s checkmate until the regime is replaced in a few years. Same as the last 2.
It’s truly amazing the dumbness of organization |

Of course…with every guy coming in you hope he can be the “one”…a guy that can get the direction of the organization pointed the right way. I had hopes when he first laid out his vision….he just doesn’t seem capable of actually getting it done up till now. - landros 2
Know idea if he’s capable. They lied. They haven’t done one move consistent with rebuild or narrative they’ve said other than lucking into mm. |

OK that's a touch dramatic considering that he didn't get the C until mid Feb...
And he played well and found his stride Nov and Dec when he played a bunch and THEN fell off a cliff. So yeah watching his ice time will help him. That said, reel in the dislike. Is he overpaid for his contract? Probably. Is he a sad sack of $hit when he hits the ice? Nope. Should he be a 1C? On a good team? No... On ours as currently built? Yes (until something better comes along or he gets hurt).
Let's step away from the hate mongering... |

In my view, if you want the job of GM, you had better have the same outlook as the organization mantra. They'll never accept a forward thinking GM who wants to radically change the direction of the team and philosophies that it operates under. They're just looking for the next new face to drive their agenda and flawed processes. Just another new era of Orange! - MJL
Well to be fair Ed did give hexy the blessing to rebuild. Who knows how it ends if Ed lives. Some things debateable with hexy but we shall never know because legs were cut off by front office approach to going back to old ways. Hexy I look at as incomplete. I would’ve really liked to know what he would’ve done.
It is clear to me now with what current front office they are willing to go to new levels of lying and deceit. Rebuild my azz |

I don't understand people who think that being critical of the team is not being a fan. That doesn't make sense. Any fan who has invested his time in rooting for and supporting a team, certainly has a right to be critical of the team if he feels that is deserved. It is extremely unfair to tell someone to feel free to root for another team then. What has this organization done in the last decade to earn immunity from fair criticism?

There is a huge difference between having a hope and expectation of NHL playing time versus telling a team you don't want to play for them because you didn't get it.

The execution overall wasn't there but upper managements expectation of how long it would take was not realistic. They continue to have the same shortsightedness today.

I really think that is not accurate.
As far as the benching Torts didn't communicate with the media or Couterier or the team. He just did it, that's on Torts. Tell the player you think he needs a rest, tell the media he needs a rest, don't just do it without an explanation and allow people to think the worst. Coots basically fed into the worst case theories when he said that Torts hadn't really talked to him about it.
Coots was overused and had injuries. Trying to grind a win out of every game and make the playoffs while leaning on Coots was Torts mistake. Couterier was never going to pull himself out of a game to rest, the coach needs to save the players from themselves, Torts doesn't do that.
As far as the 4th line, even with his dying breath he was still better than some of the players playing higher than him. Just horrible long term asset management all-around regarding Coots. Exhaustion and injuries alone probably cost him a year of NHL longevity but that doesn't matter to Torts.
What it comes down to is Torts has horrible communication skills and loves to stoke outrage so it works for him. |

Classic Torts sabotaging the team by benching Coots. He was running out of bullets at that point of the season and the team was pissed. No doubt the benching and all of the madness of calling out the team was part of the drop in play at the end. Torts played the wrong hand. |
