Stamkos has hardware, so that helped a little. Championships, leadership, clutch, grit, adversity, the whole nine yards, yadda, yadda, pay me.

JT has some old olympic medals.

JT does all of his work in the 15 foot range of the net. Stamkos can wire it. Different players. That's the issue. It's Tavares getting and controlling the ice he needs vs a guy who can be the person receiving that support.

Fun fact : the day I got my jersey signed by Rob Zamuner, the other player available for signing was Cory Cross.

This is a real quote from Cory Cross' Wikipedia page. Bolded for emphasis on hilarity.

After being drafted first overall in the 1992 Supplemental Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning, Cross went on to spend 12 NHL seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings. He was a physically imposing player with a powerful shot.

If JT drags the Leafs to a Cup, then I will sell my entire collection of meteorites and fossils to fund a trip up there to lay an offering of Florida's best blue meth at JT's feet.
- GalacticStone

Hope my "tears of gratitude" don't wash it all away.

(frank) you ZZ.

how many of those 25 (a guess of course) had no particular need for a 2nd line C?
- drexel

2nd line C at $11M, not any of the smart ones or any of the ones that have won the Cup in the last 7 years.

I disagree with the bold.
Some teams were not interested in signing him/with or others were too close to the cap to make it work.
that statement is otter BS

your JT hate is up there with AA hate of Nylander.
I get it, I was like that with Aki Berg.

- dmnted

I was kinda being sarcastic and very general but admittedly I'm not a JT fan.

That poor bastard.

There were some Canadians who blamed him for not winning the 1998 Olympics.

Seemed like a nice guy. He humored me while I awkwardly tried to ask him a couple questions. I was stoned as a monkey at the time and for a fleeting moment we made eye contact and I was convinced that he knew. 😆

I've never hated JT's game. I just thought he was overpaid....like pretty much everyone else.
