This.
Tie up the front of the net,
Stay in position, don't chase at the expense of leaving the net front uncovered.
Force shots from outside rather than in HD areas.
Forwards who play a better defensively aware game will help as well - IonSabres
With the speed added at forward, hopefully the Sabres can use it to effect entries into there zone for better breakout options. |

I wish. Very low chance the Flyers would consider moving him. |

What are we looking for in that 2/3 LW spot.
Farabee doesnt pk, not good on the PP. Solid 5v5 player tho. At 4 more seasons im not sold.

Don't need Farabee to PK and until he worked with this group we wouldn't know if he was good on the PP. And 5v5 is much needed. |

If you dont need this new addition to play pk (looks like thats covered) or be a good PP guy (Farabee still young could grow there) and just need a solid 5v5 player he could work. |

I spent a little time and reviewed each players past seasons, and gave consideration to where they are in their career (developing, plateau, or declining) and came up with the following. Team total is 270 goals (and for each its assuming 70 plus games), please make comments on the ones that look wrong:
Thompson 37
Tuch 23
Peterka 26
Quinn 28
Cozens 24
Zucker 18
McLeod 15
Benson 17
Greenway 8
Lafferty 10
Malenstyn 6
Krebs/Aube-Kubel 6
Dahlin 20
Byram 13
Power 8
Samuelsson 3
Jokiharju/Byson 5
Clifton/Gilbert 3

Honestly, they may very well be better off with Kulich there IMO... Break him in. |

Agree, time to see what the kids got. Actually wouldn't mind seeing him work with McLeod |

Krebs/Aube-Kubel 6

Power 8
Samuelsson 3

Edit - subtracted out about 25 goals... Down to 245 if our counts are accurate |

I can't see him going back to Roch if they dont acquire another top 6 forward.
He is most likely plan B for them IMO.
Do you slot him in the top 6 right away? Or does Benson move up and Kulich with Mcleod and Zucker or is line 3 Benson-Mcleod-Kulich. Will be nice if Zucker can be a 40pt+ player again. |

Greenway and Ostlund for Farabee anyone? - QuinnFan
I would do it. Would like another season of Ostlund in Roch to see what he might turn into but Farabee would help with that 2LW void so would have to make that trade. Maybe Greenway and Krebs gets Farabee (I'm just not valuing either Greenway or Krebs that much at the moment), or is that to much along with hurting our depth when injuries occur? |

I think it would be either Benson or Zucker as the 2LW (at least for start of season). |

I think Greenway + Krebs is probably what we tried to offer. Briere doesn't seem to be biting.
You'd hope that with all these prospects we have depth. Can always call up Kulich or Rosen if someone goes down anyways. |

He's auto top9, not top6. It's clear that the 4th line will be reserved as a checking line. Also think Benson McLeon is going to be a thing.
Agree that Kulich is the Plan B. |

Yeah, a bottom6 player needs to go. Isn't like they're going to waive Krebs. Can have one of those 4 in the press box, then trade Krebs but either way something has to give. |

Here is the reasoning I used relative the ones you questions, but you could be spot on as I just speculating (jut fun to try and guess at it). Probably should add that each should have plus/minus 2 attached.
Quinn is based on last season’s 9 goals for 27 games played expanded to full season combined with him and Peterka tracking about the same in the prior season where Quinn having 14 goals and Peterka having 12 (so I gave him what Peterka had last season).
Bryam had 10 goals in 22/23 and 11 goals in 23/24, and I think he is still getting better so I settled on 13 goals because he should see more opportunities with Sabres this season.
McLeod I just went with how he has progressed: 21/22 9 goals in 71 games, 22/23 11 goals in 57 games, 23/24 12 goals in 81 games. Just think there will be small improvement and more opportunity for him on Sabres roster, thus 3 more goals for this year.
Dahlin had 20 goals last season (he had 15 goals prior season) so just kept him the same (hoping he doesn’t decline).

Interested to see what happens with Krebs, Briere does like him.

I like the exercise and I think Ion made some good points as well
+/- 2 to 3 goals per player and at the onset we are back to last year's goal numbers. With that said, the Sabres will not miss Skinner's goals.
Improve the defense by 10 - 15 goals = profit/playoffs.

I heard Briere also likes Samuelsson: Would Krebs + Samuelsson for Farabee + Attard + 2nd rd pick, be a bad trade? |
