Would anyone take a chance depending on the Cost, especially if they Retained a bit ? - Buff36
Nope.
Production is ok for a L2 player, but he has 't played an 82 game season...last full season was 6 years ago (yup 2 were COVID shortened), is a heavy "-" player, and a head case., and CBJ is looking for Picks and Prospects...Sabres should be looking to dump 2 contracts in any deal IMO.

Yeah, was looking at his contract, owed more money than his Cap hit to.

Is it fair to think of the Sabres Cap Ceiling net of Skinner's BO charges, to be flat for '25-'26 and '26-'27 seasons?
Skinner's BO increases by the following amounts over the previous seasons' BO charge (baseline);
•'24-'25 season, baseline of $1.45m
•'25-'26 season, $4.45m, +$3.00m over '24-'25
•'26-'27 season, $6.45m, +$2.00m over '25-'26
I think it holds relatively well for the '25-'26 season, as I have read a projection to $92m (+$3.2m). For the '26-'27 season, they should have a modest amount of ÀDDITIONAL space....$2-4m extra is my guess.
This rather simplified view shows us that the Sabres current space of about $12m (after accounting for annual Bonuses so they don't roll over), is the baseline they have available to spend on increases for Contract extensions and new players. Increase the amount by UFA's leaving and Players traded away, decrease for Prospects added on ELC's).
So if Greenway were traded out for futures, and Kulich or Rosen win the 2LW spot currently open, Sabres would have $12m + $3m - $0.9m = $14.1 available to spend on increases for UPL, JJP, Quinn, Byram and Levi this season and next. Add in Joker leaving and RyJo taking his spot, it adds another $2.2m less RyJo's Bridge deal ... so probably close to zero impact there.
I think Kevin is done unless he can unload Greenway and Krebs for futures.

>>> While specifics on the asking price remain fluid, the expectation is that any trade will involve Columbus retaining some salary, aiming to make Laine's contract more attractive and secure a return that includes significant picks and prospects.

Well with his history I will be surprised with what they get, even retaining. I don't think he fits, but he's got talent.
