Laine + Ceulemans
For
Greenway, Krebs, Joker, Ostlund

If you could have Laine for future considerations, would you want him?

IDK, maybe.

I'd rather send deadbeat contracts back vs gaining much back.
Clearly CBJ is done with him and wants futures. Does he have much value?
IDK, I have never liked him...big under-performer IMO.
Is he worth the headache

You forecasted the next couple years, tough to add that in.

It is, yes.
Honestly I have had a couple of bourbons and am not willing to concentrate on the numbers at the moment (that post was written 95% this am).

From a roster perspective, his raw production numbers fit. His mental state, nor his contract do not. So generally against it.

To force it, the Sabres need to dump existing contracts (most of which have near zero value now) in view of upcoming contract needs....hence why dumping Krebs, Joker and Greenway (~$7m).
(Now back to not thinking it through for next two seasons given current state). Not sure how they fit him in for the '25-'26 season...probably have to dump Cliffy too.

OK, gotta make the pasta now!

There is a reason why he lasted this long.
Productive for 4th Line minutes no doubt, but a head case apparently. Skinner 2.0 except not as good.

Dodged a bullet there, whew!

I doubt he was taking krebs, or kulich's spot

He’s scored 10x more goals the last 2 seasons. I would have replaced Greenway or Krebs with him for a one year deal on a million dollar contract

I rather give a roster spot to Kulich over Sprong. You will likely get the same goal product out of Kulich as you would Sprong. Also Sprong is gone after one season, while the year in NHL would be significant to Kulich's development .

Coleman’s nice but I think if we add another forward it’s got to be a definite top 6 guy (the Konecnyz, zegras’s) not a top 9 guy who can maybe be in the top 6. We have enough of those

Also Coleman turns 33 in Nov., Farabee who is 24 would be the better player to trade assets for. Farabee right now looks like a 2nd or 3rd line player where Zegras is a 1st or 2nd line player. I'm thinking the Ducks only trade Zegras if you over pay, and I'm thinking their lowest ask maybe something like: Benson, Walhberg, and a 1st. I really like the idea of Samuelsson + Krebs for Farabee + Attard (assuming Sabres believe Attard is a NHL RD).

Looks like he's pencil in as Canucks 3rd line RW. He's a bit small in size and he would need to be comfortable with playing on left side, I don't know if it does much for us. Cap salary is 4.95 mil, so if they wanted more size and a little cap relief maybe they would swap him for Greenway?

Kings forward Arthur Kaliyev would be an intriguing gamble that I would take. Only 23, has good size, has requested a trade. He's coming off a down year so maybe buying low. Wondering if Kings would have interest in Greenway and/or Krebs?

He seems to be the most available of a definite top 6 type. Asking price seems high though

Well I guess it really depends on what they think of Kulich and Rosen. Are you ready to give them a legitimate shot.

He hasn’t signed a contract yet. So who knows.

And none of the top 6 forwards have gotten moved.

Once one gets moved. The others should follow
