Hes my odd man out.
Tage is better no question. Cozens was better but had a down year. Casey finally put a full year tg... only took him 260+ games - DirtyDan
Hate to say it, but we're the only fanbase that can lose 13 years in a row and talk about a good player being the odd man out. Good teams keep those guys. Nothing against Byram, but Mitts is a more valuable piece IMO. We could have came up with a good package for a young RHD without giving up Mitts and putting us back into the center search.
We need to start keeping these guys during the prime years, not shipping them off to compete against us when they break through. Know you aren't disagreeing with this, just kind of go fired up by the "odd man out" point. You're right...and it's infuriating. |

UPLs arb date is 7/29 - TheSabresTaco
It’s weird how those arb hearings aren’t made public anymore.
Good info.
So we should hear something over the weekend or else it’s arb time on Monday |

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
Let it go to Arb. Play it relaxed, don't alienate him, but keep that award down under $4.25m.
Win/Win. |

As soon as Adams extended cozens. Adams right then and there said cozens is our 2C ….. mitts days were numbered after that.
You aren’t paying a 3C - 7 mill heck even 5.75 mill to play limited minutes.
Byram will get more ice time and get more value than mitts on the Sabres |

The problem with the “don’t alienate” him is that arb cases are a player beat down by the current team.
Jermey Swayman said something in an interview about it being a terrible experience.

Danny loves Krebs and Samuelsson.
Sabres are overloaded on LhD, light on RhD and don't really have room for Krebs.
Krebs
Samuelsson
Greenway
Oslund
Owen Tippet
Oliver Bonk
Cal Peterson ($3.85m Cap Dump, AHL bound)
Why I'm not running this team I'm not sure
JJP - Tage - Tuch
Tippet - Cozens - Quinn
Benson - McLeod - Zucker
Malenstyn - Lafferty - NAK
Byram - Dahlin
Power - Joker
RyJo - Cliffy
Good competition for that 2RhD spot for the following season
Johnson, Bonk, Komorov, Novikov...maybe the loser takes the 3RhD from Cliffy. |

I mean, as we spoke of earlier...just don't be an bumhole about it.
They aren't trying to "win at all costs", rather just manage the process to keep the cost reasonable. Anything $4.5m or less is great...and that leaves the Arb alot of room. It likely comes in less than $4m |

Yes.
Yes they did.
Things change Right.
Like Adams refusing yo include Savoie in deals, or so we have heard multiple times. |

At this point. I would take any top 6 forward to plug that top 6 winger role.
Keep Benson and zucker on the 3rd line
Komorov I think has been excellent in juniors or am I thinking of the wrong Russian. |

Trading for a young 3C and drafting a lower ceiling, close to NHL ready 3C was a curious pair of moves. - Lunaion
Helenius is a lower ceiling prospect?
I had no idea. |

Who wouldn't want more money than they deserve? Kev set himself up for that. - Lunaion
They also pulled the classic Sabres move of playing a player higher in the lineup then a good team would, and then having to pay that player a new contract commensurate with their inflated lineup position.
Jokiharju is a great example of that.
By trading Casey for Byram, is all they did just kick the can down the road on deciding whether or not to pay another player long term? |

There would be no competition.
Bonk is multiple levels above every other defender you named. |
