Eliminate shootouts and circling around for 3 min to avoid losing possession. So boring
- picklerick

game ending in a shootout>>>>>>>>>>>>>>game ending in tie.

This is sports. There are winners and there are losers.

ok that's cool and all but i was simply agreeing that implementing that rule would help reduce shootouts and boring OT possessions and was not advocating for games to end in ties. why do you waste your time

Get rid of the three point games, that would change the equation as well.

for sure that can happen too, but still that stupid "skate with the puck in and out of the zone for minutes on end waiting for a perfect opportunity" needs to go and this automatically gets rid of it.

I actually agree with this. If it goes to OT, no points given still. It's either 2 points or non. Now THAT would be an epic 3 on 3 knowing 2 points are on the line.

Overhaul the point system.

Regulation win: 3 points.
Overtime Win: 2 points
Overtime loss: 1 point
Shootout win: 1 point
Shootout loss: 0 points.

So you have some games worth 3 points and some worth 1 point? Brilliant

This your Cap Friendly replacement?

If so, scrap it...use CapWages.com. It's a near identical clone of Cap Friendly.

- mames11

PuckPedia seems to be the generally accepted replacement among the media, so I'm going to stick with that one until they're proven to be less reliable than CapWages. PuckPedia had the two recent signings the Isles made well before CapWages did also.

It seems, to me, that CapWages just scraped all the data and basically copied the code from CapFriendly. If they're just going to update their site from PuckPedia's info after the fact then I'm definitely going to stick with PP. Maybe that's not the case, but I guess time will tell.

3 Points ----- Regulation Win

2 Points Overtime/Shootout Win

ZERO for anything else!

Puts bigger emphasis on winning in regulation and no more loser points to keep teams artificially close in the standings!

The league loves parity so it will never happen. Keep more teams alive for as long as possible

It also artificially inflates the standing of a team with 15+ OT wins and messes with the quality balance in the playoff seeding. I don't know about you, but it is easy to tell when a team boosted in standings will be dominated in the playoffs.

Was gonna say something similar, capwages is just a bad copy and paste with no substance.

2 points for a win. OT is 5 on 5 and they keep playing until someone wins, like the playoffs

Do we think this is the team we’re heading into opening night with? Seems like a guarantee Trouba will be there, but will Kakko? Jones is the 6th dman? Uninspiring off-season to say the least.

This past year was our best shot. We're effing screwed now bud. Slow descent into the murky middle incoming these next 2+ years or so.

At least we have money to use after we trade Trouba next summer and bread comes off the books the summer after, but that Zib contract is an anchor on our cup hopes for the entirety of Igor's prime.

Zib needs to take a long look in the mirror. I think he’s capable of a bounce back, need more emotion out of him. Both him and Kreider on their nice guy acts too often.
