Sadly I trust Woll to be very good when he plays but also I trust he will be hurt much more than anyone wants.
Hope not but fear so.
We shall see.

According to one of the "pundits" at the Athletic, the Leafs brass feel that most of Woll's injuries have been due to bad luck rather than anything chronic, which I suppose is good? Like if the guy had a bad knee or ankle that just never really healed, there would be a problem, but if it's just crazy one-off things like collisions, or tweaks to dissimilar areas, it might be a combination of bad luck and better training regimen would fix it.
I agree that we shall see.
I do think that Stolarz or Brossoit were the two best "only money" options available to come in and spell him in case he's hurt. When Brossoit went to Chicago for $3.3m, I think Stolarz was a great addition at $2.5m. It could be great news if Murray's surgery went his way and he's back to form. This bit is obviously more of a wishlist than an expectation, but he's been the guy before and he is only 30.
Strangely I don't find the goaltending is as much of a concern as I should. I'm not really a fan of the bottom-6 still and the defense, as much as it's been touted as improved, is improved by as much as Tanev can bring to the table over Brodie. |

Unfortunately, doesn’t look like they are trading mitchy - so maybe a bit of a wasted year coming up (although anything can happen right) and hopefully the following year they can put together a team with Cup depth. |

All my blind faith devoid of what I have seen, experienced and know to be factual for the most part is used towards envisioning the Leafs winning the cup!
No faith left for the goalie who has been hurt what feels like every season and for long stretches suddenly will not be this year!
I can only justify blind faith and foolishness in one of those 2 so I'll stick with the Leafs winning the cup because it will bring me more joy.

I agree they are much better positioned now than last year if they lose a goalie for a lengthy stretch this year. Jones coming up big was pretty much pure luck based on what he had done in the past IMO.
Murry making a strong comeback would be found money for sure.

Until we see them play against pros we don't know much, but Hildeby, Akhtyamov and (to a lesser extent in in my opinion) Peksa are also still plausible options. They'll all be 22 or older as this season starts, so they have the experience to at least _see_ NHL shooters and see how they fare.

Just feel that Woll signing was a mistake. 39 career games shouldn't get you close to 4 million. Of course I hope the guy does well but if you're paying him that much now, what are going to pay him later, on a raise of his current salary? |

Makes sense actually. It doesn’t start this year so now he’ll be able to take on the roll as Toronto’s starter without having to think about that. Worth the risk. Worse comes to worse they end up with a $3 mill backup. Not that big of a deal considering the cap will be into the $90’s and over $100 mill for the contract he signed. |

If you want players in Toronto they insist on getting paid. Taxes, media, weather, etc, compared to Texas or Florida. I have been a Canadian my whole life and I wan't to move down south, I'm sure it's the same for most of the pop. Sucks to be a Leaf fan tbh |

Actually have proposed this idea to the wife many times. Arizona. I think the Canadian population is high as (frank) paying what we pay for homes and in taxes. Done with this poop. Sadly the wife won't sign off on it.

Nice place to visit but I like living in my native Canada. If I had to move countries there's lots of good places to go in the US. I'd still stay northern US though, I like winter |
