Hey LA, i was looking at cap wages and it looks like Crevier is waiver exempt, unless they are wrong?

If mcgoarty goes back to Michigan for another year at the end of the year he becomes a free agent if I m not mistaken. Plus since he has not been traded yet, due to the believe he has attitude and maturing issues could be turning teams off on him. We will see where this goes. My guess he ends up on the eastern conference team. Maybe dach Kaiser and 2nd rounder could get the deal done, but who knows what the asking price is.
- Scott1977

I don’t believe Dach is going to have a really good NHL career. He has a couple issues in addition has so far been injury prone. Kaiser is the third pair offensive guy until someone can replace him. I am hoping so by next season if not developing this way during the upcoming season. Leveshunov and Kk one pair; Vlasic another pairing with DelMaestro winding up in second or third pair. Once these kids on defense start their second or third year as regulars, the time is due then to shed the large S Jones contract. Will need to pay Bedard and these kids if they start improving and looking good

Allen and Crevier are in the mix for third pair and reserve and could rotate with a veteran season after next. Murphy will be gone by then. In my estimation I concur with whomever suggested in the season after next the KD plan is to push for as many kids to play NHL and not worry how they do too much. It will be the final season of purposefully going with a lot of youth mixed in with veterans near the end of their time. The season after next we should expect to be a playoff contender as an improving geared young team on the upswing. The biggest concern will be in goal and that the second offensive line is legitimate. If/when Rinzell is ready we figure to be a pretty good team although maybe reliant upon a back up or Mrzak in net as I am not a big fan of Comesso and Gajan is perhaps still development necessary in AHL

I thought he played 3 years in Rockford, but only 2. No matter, no one would pick him up anyway.

Wrong
Teams are always looking to acquire more defense help
And Crevier has some development time already, so he would be cheap to add to a team’s depth chart. If Crevier picks his spots to be more aggressive that works as long as he becomes reliable defensively. Potentially a well rounded dman. Down the road if he can use his stick like Vlasic does in defending that is a plus for a third pair guy with size/could be hard to play against

My cousin Sue taught there her final 6 years...it was easier than working in a school - if a student acted up, you buzzed the guard and they went back to their cell...

Crevier at best is an 8th defenseman on a NHL club. He is no better than a 6th defenseman on the ice hogs.

I never said he is great. He is a depth guy who might develop into a third pair He should develop into a better dman if he spends one more full season in Rockford; it is laughable you say he is Rockford’s 6th best dman but I realize your rating depends upon Kk DelMaestro Allen Phillips and Kaiser all on Icehogs roster. The Blackhawks are going to employ some aging nearly on the end of career dmen so that kids can play regularly in the AHL. They have a lot of young dmen, most likely as many or more than most NHL teams

Why is that laughable? Technically if KK and Kaiser start the season in RFD, Crevier will likely be your 7th best dman as you left off Arty.

Thanks for the link to that capwages site. I didn't know about it. The individual team roster breakdowns are very similar to cap friendly.

Saying anyone is 7th best AHL dman denotes or makes appear that he is the worse of all the dmen. Some may infer, he is not very good

Actually Crevier had some good games in the NHL (particularly when paired with Vlasic) and stuck around because the coaching staff felt that he had some promise. The majority of young dmen prospects however need developmental time and are not ready physically either as under age 21 in a man’s league. Each of the seven listed though has enough ability to play in the NHL. Phillips may be added to the list although I suspect he eventually is traded

Crevier was brought up because there were a ton of injuries and he was right handed. Good for him that he got in some games, but he was not good when in the lineup. He stuck around because there were few other healthy bodies. Indeed, many prospects need time to develop, but he is the oldest defensive prospect at 23, and really doesn't have a path to the lineup (and likely not any lineup).

He doesn't have one exceptional trait other than being tall, and he's not one of those "really good at many things" players either. If you look at the defensemen that are expected to be in Rockford, who do you put him in front of?

I can’t think of one skill or trait Crevier offers an NHL team. He’s not particularly mobile. He has limited offensive upside. He’s not great defensively. He doesn’t appear to be strong, he doesn’t dominate puck battles. The only thing he brings is size and he doesn’t use it.

I found it last week and posted it, glad you came across it the 2nd time around.

The waiver thing confuses me and when i read the rules i thought he was protected, according to this site they read it the same way

I can't argue with this, but if he could just be a bit more instinctual in his own end he could be a very nice shutdown defenseman.

Crevier and Phillips are AHL depth at this point in their careers. At best, they could be a #7 NHL d-man that allows the better prospects to continue developing in Rockford when injuries happen on the main roster. For 7th (Crevier) and 5th (Phillips) round picks I don't think we can ask for much more.

Most draft choices won't be NHL players at least on a good team. Our group here tends to over think many of our prospects. For example, I don't think C. Dach will ever be an NHL player no matter how long he "marinates."

Indeed. Outside of the goalies, if the Hawks get 6 everyday players out of the last three drafts, that is a really good result. There might be a few surprises that push that total to 7-8, but expect that a good portion of these prospects either fizzle in the AHL, don't get signed, or get traded before ever wearing a Hawks sweater.
