What are u driving that it costs you $80 a week locally? And what’s locally? When I think local driving, I think under 4-5 miles.

Wow truly amazing. I feel for you Jan. You write insightful articles and you are the best writer on HockeyBuzz and TommyG thinks you control the site. Peoples ignorance is pretty incredible. TommyG, you have been posting here for years and yet you dont even understand that Jan doesnt have any input in posting matters. Your attack on him is out of line and uncalled for. The thing is, the main person causing all this non sense is the same guy who wants Tom banned. Jim is the internet bully, belittling anyone he doesnt agree with. He has done it numerous times before in the past and just did it recently the other day with aecliptic talking about Copp and Vatrano and 9479 just yesterday about hating Drury. Jim is the only one who actually engages with Tom and continues on engaging him. Read back thru the posts, Jim is the only person who continues on and on and on. Non stop name calling and homophobic slurs. Read back TommyG thru all these pages and just remove Jims post directed at Tom, there is less than half the pages to read then. Whatever Toms reason for his posts, its his opinion one way or another, outrageous or not, read it and more on, no need to attack and belittle someone. Besides Jim, who else goes after Tom in the same way?? You dont see the picture here?? If Jim didnt attack and respond back to Tom, it would just end, but no, Jim continues his derogatory rant and he continues with a long run on. So TommyG, let me get this straight, you want to restrict what someone is saying, because it isnt inline with your thoughts or feelings or just simply annoy you, yet you are comfortable to have someone spew hateful and derogatory remarks??? Jims attack with derogatory, homophobic remarks are acceptable but Toms Fire Drury or I want a new rebuild arent?? Yes I understand Toms posts may annoy most and they hate them but is it the same level of disrespect as Jims posts? Wow, talk about tolerance. You know what, your attack on Jan has made me uncomfortable and I dont like it, Im gonna recommend to have you banned. You attacked someone for no reason and he has no control over the site. While we are at it, lets ban Tj because he is overly optimistic or you know what, lets ban those who dont post everyday because then they cant be real fans if they dont post everyday. Where do we then stop and draw a line? Do you understand what Im trying to say here?

My man Jim, you are a text book narcissistic and control freak. You need a few years on the couch and medication ASAP.

Sorry for the run on but thats my rant, have a great day.

Don't be sorry for the length of the rant, be sorry that you're wrong!

Tom shouldn't be here. FULL STOP. Read that again.

He has been suspended over and over again. Now he simply has created an alt account and is doing the same antagonizing that got him BANNED previously. If mods simply enforced their own Code of Conduct Policy, then Tom wouldn't be here to trigger Jimmy. I am not excusing Jimmy, but I recognize the root cause of the problem here.

Anyone have an EV or a plugin hybrid (any car that charges)? I just leased the new Chevy Blazer EV and am looking for home chargers. Spare me the lecture on EVs if you're a weirdo about it.
- picklerick

Where I work we have had EVs for several years dating back to the 2010's. Fist we had two consecutive Nissan Leaf leases. First leaf at full charge (overnight) had a paltry 84 MPC, second had 114 MPC.
Early 2020 I was issued the keys to a new Hyundai Ionic plug in hybrid the Friday the pandemic started to be the on-call tech. That car got an extra 36 MPC overnight. Using regenerative braking I was able to at least drive the 39 miles to work on sparks.
This was using the standard equipped 110V charger that comes with the car. Unless you need a 220V outlet I don't see the need for a dedicated charging station unless it is code now. I used a 10' 12/3 extension cord with no issues on an outdoor plug.

Tbh if they both just ignored each other its fine. It becomes a problem that they both keep going at it escalating the situation.

Good points, but don't overlook that electric car repairs are much more costly and the price of the vehicle is as well. So yes, you may save at the gas pump on a weekly basis but your other costs are higher
- Crushers68

Very costly. I recall something on the news where assh0les were stealing the charging nozzles from peoples homes. Replacements were said to be near $2k. I would wager your startup would hit around double that with labor. Electric bills would also likely go up a little, too. You'd save for sure, but will feel the pain at first.

This isn’t partisan. I don’t care if someone drives an EV, personally I think if you are going to get one, u should lease it like pickle is doing bc those batteries are ridiculous to replace eventually. Also, the holier than thou I drive an EV thing has been debunked time and time again. The mining done to make those batteries is just the same if not worse than if you just had a gas car.

All true.
I have a friend who teaches at a Porsche school. A lot of them are electric now and there is really no infrastructure for battery disposal. And forget about it if one catches on fire.
If I were to get one it would be a lease because of the battery replacement issue.

The charger is locked onto the car when the door is locked. If people are dumb enough to leave it unattended when they aren't home that's another story.

So you think Im wrong, so Im wrong. Makes sense in todays world. Thats your own point of view.

Antagonizes who? Drury sucks, burn it down sets you off??? You or whoever else that it sets it off needs thicker skin.

I dont see anyone else besides Jimmy attacking Tom in this manner. Ever since Tom came back, Jimmy has been on a mission to get him banned again, I dont see Tom doing anything wrong. No cursing, threatening or disparaging remarks. He hasnt broken the Code Of Conduct again, Jimmy has trampled it. Jimmy doesnt have to respond to him, a majority on here dont respond to Tom. If Jimmy doesnt, then there isnt any fighting. Jimmy just doesnt stop and its become pretty pathetic. If anyone should be banned for a few years im my opinion, its Jimmy.

Jimmy has attacked many people in the past if he doesnt like what they post, do you see a pattern here?

So he has new account, pretty obvious that the mods dont care. It might be a legal issue, might open them up to a lawsuit if they did. I dont know and I dont care.

Now you see, I have my POV and you have yours, did I attack you, call you names make insulting remarks to you? No You didnt agree with me in my original post and you responded, funny, you didnt call me any type of name or insinuated I have homosexual tendencies. How many posters on this board have actually gone crazy as to the extent Jimmy has?? No one but Jimmy. So like I said, If only one person sees that he is entitled to belittle someone as Jimmy does, its on Jimmy, not Tom

Chevy Volt needed a battery replacement at 70k miles, 25 grand to replace. Not going to save much there.

The US grid barely holds it own now, add in a few million EV's and it isnt going to be able to sustain all the power that is needed. There will be more power outages if that is the case. We dont have the infrastructure to sustain millions of EV's.

OUCH!

So they want to mandate EVs that don't work as well in the winter and can't charge in the summer or it will overload the grid.
Brilliant!

I did enjoy driving the Ionic, it's a really nice car. Would love a hybrid pickup.
Like you said, the infrastructure just isn't in place yet to make it feasible.
And it wouldn't be virtue signaling, I just don't like spending almost $3.50 a gallon.

The US doesn't have the infrastructure to support what it has now. Prime example is NJ transit. There is a bridge in new jersey that is 90 years old. A drawbridge, the useful life on those types of bridges in 50 years. So bad.

I hope the buying process for your new EV goes smoothly and without any inconveniences.

Does this suffice?

My earlier post wasn't useful in that regard.
Some of the chargers can run 110/220.

Nevermind, just looked up a dedicated home system. Can't help you there.

I rented a Tesla recently and absolutely loved it. Had nothing to do with EV vs ICE. The drive was so much fun, the tech inside the car was sweet (Spotify started my music immediately when I got in the car, wireless charger for my phone, minimalistic steering wheel).

I didn’t think charging was complicated. Just plugged it in at night or when we went somewhere with a charger available.

Can’t recommend it enough. Give it a try! Was a fun experience.

(I don’t own an EV. Might get one for my next car, but not married to the idea)
