I’m not going to sit here and act like it’s been a fun, incredible offseason. But the moves make sense to me and I can rationalize why they were made. Not going to female dog about it, because it’s not like we can change it. - Bean_Dip
we've won a lot of off seasons
the horses to win are here already, they just need to stay healthier and play better next spring
that's exactly what Florida did after losing in Cup last year, stayed healthier, played better

Exactly. The tinkering is helpful, but it’s a moot point if Panarin and Zib don’t step up next playoffs. Having a healthy Fox and even Vesey is equally important. |

Vesey was a very underrated injury in that Florida series for sure

This is Tom in nutshell…
He will make people believe he wanted Duclair (he didn’t/wouldn’t), just so he can fight with Jimmy about it. And people believe Tom actually wanted Duclair because he’s a menace to HB society. These people are what they call oblivious
Jimmy makes a valid point why we shouldn’t have signed him, and people will jump all over Jimmy for calling Tom’s bs out

Was pretty civil. Again, I've posted a link of comparable. Pointed out age, similar production, (Duclair didn't have Crosby). Another day, another vision not seen. Sad... |

I wouldn't have wanted Reilly Smith for 4 years either
see: several times now I've brought up Lafreniere's next contract
see: point constantly ignored

Not ignored. They need money for many players. I got bad news, they might not have enough even now. |

additionally, I anticipate Lafreniere making over 7 million starting next year and don't want a bloated Duclair contract making a problem then either
keeeeeeeep failing - jimbro83
I dont think he is going to make more than 7. |

I assume he, smartly, has no intent on negotiating until after the upcoming season? If he has another strong year/playoffs he'll get a hell of a lot more money. |

Isn’t Smith technically a value? He didn’t play well last year and we bought the dip. - Bean_Dip
I wouldn’t call him value, Pitt gave up a 3rd for him. He had a down year, and we gave up a 2nd and 5th. Value was PITT getting him for a 3rd and turning that into better picks. |

They retained money tho. In hindsight may have not needed too.
But go ahead talk about this same thing day after day for all eternity |

I didn’t bring any of this up today. But since we’re talking about it, here’s my opinion. |

is your opinion that Reilly Smith contributed absolutely nothing to the 2023 Vegas Cup run?

Just busting your chops
I think he’s a good fit for a year, which was the goal I think (in Drurys mind) As far as picks go, TB has traded basically all of them the last half decade and it got them 2 cups. Now is the time to trade them tbh. |

When did I say that? And wtf do I care about VGK cup run. I care about NYR 2025 cup run and I’m not sure 13 goal Reilly Smith who seems to be declining gets us there. |
