Frost won't stick with Torts as #2 center, imo. Who plays #2 center when Frost inevitably get's demoted/scratched? Culture guys.

Depending on how Couterier's body holds up, the center situation maybe upside down. Remember Coots was playing 4th line at the end of the season. His minutes/health do need to be monitored better this year if he's to make it to the end of the season. I hear Torts doesn't own a stopwatch though so maybe one of his assistants can help him out.

As Twitter and the hockey forums lit up, the Flyers turned their local broadcast into a forceful PR spectacle. In the first three hours after the trade, their entire “New Era of Orange” management team appeared on their team-affiliated media channels to hammer home a unified message.

There was the hallway press conference from ex-Flyer-turned-GM Ron Bobby Paul Daniel Briere. There was an NBC Sports Philadelphia booth reunion with ex-Flyer-turned-commentator-turned-President Keith Jones. Head Coach and commercial narrator John Tortorella added his zingers in the postgame. And as a treat, team-affiliated podcast Snow the Goalie even hosted some jargon time with the health insurance executive Comcast hired to babysit the other three.

But despite all the talking that the new Flyers braintrust did that night, they really didn’t say poop.

Sure, they were consistent with their scripted mantras: “Cutter didn’t wanna be a Flyer!” and “If you don’t wanna be a Flyer, you’re not gonna be a Flyer!” Throughout all that righteous chest-thumping, though, they swore they had no idea why.

Good article and confirms what some of us have been saying. The "Quitter Gauthier" narrative got the hard sell and the outrage over not meeting LeClair was over the top. The team brass were fair maidens who got disrespected ::sarcasm::

Lindros's quote pretty much applies to this situation :

“It wasn’t saying no to the people,” Lindros said in 2020. “It was saying no to one particular person who ran the team. And that’s my right…I thought people would understand, but my family’s not a PR firm, and we were going up against a PR firm. It was lopsided.”

It’s a great article and it shows just how dysfunctional this organization continues to be.

Fletcher should have been dismissed at the end of 21-22. Jones and Briere should have never been considered for their current positions as both are not qualified to handle the responsibilities the jobs entail.

And people wonder why fans who are capable of thinking rationally and critically are so pessimistic about the future of the franchise.

I read something the other day that its not that the Flyers do not want Ryan Johansen to play for them this season or that they want to bury him in the AHL. No, its that RJ is refusing to play for them and specifically for coach Torts. No surprise here given their history, but these things are really starting to add up now against the Flyers. First Gauthier, then RJ fakes an injury to try to apparently force the Flyers to trade him, and now recently Kolosov apparently wants to get out of his deal. What is going on? I know Torts, Briere and Jones will not answer that question other than to say, "If you don't want to play for the Flyers you will not play for the Flyers", but I think the reporters got to start digging in here and reporting what is really going on. For example, I am sure Gauthier has friends, friends who he told the reason why he didn't want to play for the Flyers. I am sure one of those friends would spill the goods if offered enough cash. With Kolosov lets not rely on the Belarusian press, start digging into it and find out if its true. There is enough smoke here to believe a fire can and is brewing.

I love the way the article sums it up:

If the stated goal of this “New Era of Orange” is to make the Philadelphia Flyers an attractive destination for top NHL talent, the Cutter Gauthier ordeal should raise serious questions about the message it sends. The organization has a time-honored tradition of gaslighting fans into blaming players for what are really organizational failures. It goes hand-in-hand with their time-honored tradition of not winning Stanley Cups.

“I had a great time in Philly,” Lindros (perhaps selectively) recalled to The Hockey News. “But if [Gauthier] thinks he’s going to have a better time someplace else, then go for it. It’s a player’s right…the better the city and the organization treats a guy, the more it’s going to attract guys.”

Shhh, can’t question the Flyers brain trust. I mean how can you possibly question an organization that has won an actual playoff round once since 2012?

Can you find the link to that?

edit:

I ask because if he is healthy enough to play and just refuses to report, that gives the Flyers grounds to terminate his contract does it not?

And with Briere's history of lying, I don't believe a word he says at this point.

It would, he would need a dr to confirm the injury and that he can't play. If he refuses, he is breaking his signed contract, and would be terms to terminate. He can't just not play because he doesn't feel like it.

Why is the Gauthier situation so difficult for you to figure out? Why is the situation with Tortorella so difficult for you to figure out. It has all been explained to you numerous times over a long period of time.

Soft tissue injuries can be almost impossible to disprove. If someone says they are in pain how do you prove they aren't? Has anyone confirmed what his injury is?

It took the Flyers a year or so to figure out Ellis's injury.

I will try to find it. This article from back in March also states the same thing though. https://broadstreetbuzz.c...0with%20Cutter%20Gauthier.

This is an interesting angle because I also found out that Buium's agent is also Gauthier's agent, so that might explain why the Flyers wanted nothing to do with Buium. It's not a good situation when a team and an agent are not on good terms. Helge Grans is also represented by Kurt Overhardt.

I gave you my thoughts on Kolosov. If the reports out of Belerus are true, the Flyers owe us an explanation, and not just the standard "if he doesn't want to be a Flyer he will not be a Flyer". Someone needs to dig into this and find out what the heck is going on, and why Kolosov does not want to play here. It could be he is entitled and expected the starting job if he came to America, but how many times can we hear that story about the entitled, spoiled brat hockey player, from the same franchise before someone calls BS!

The Gauthier situation is hard for me to figure out because Gauthier never gave a reason as to why he wanted out. In my opinion there isn’t a “Tortorella situation” because his bad team overachieved last season and you don’t fire a coach for doing a good job. This isn’t me saying Torts isn’t flawed and doesn’t make titanic mistakes. I’m saying most organizations are only going to look at the final record and what the coach had to use. I don’t agree with Frost being scratched 6 games in a row in October but I will say, Patrick Laine probably was mistreated by Torts but Patrick Laine also hasn’t improved as a player since Torts left Columbus.

Not a defending Torts as much as, sometimes we have to stop looking at a situation from a fans’ perspective.

I was traveling this weekend and read it in passing on my phone, but there was not really any clarification, just restating that Johansen does not want to play for Torts and that is the primary reason he is not playing, and the Flyers are trying to cover it up like they did with the entire Gauthier saga.

the got him to come over. then after 6/7 weeks he wants out? Out why? where is the disconnect?

- he comes over and has to sit behind cal "no future" peterson. what is the main goal of your AHL team? was he told something diff in terms of playing time?

- did the flyers have a good support system in place? did they provide him with what he needed?

- once he saw ivan come over and sign a 2 year deal did that sour him at all?

- how did danny boy let it get to this point?

- maybe it is a simple case of home sickness. not sure I buy it though.
