Well soft was in back then. Look at the teams that won the cups since then. Besides until GM sullivan is gone you or pittsburgh will not see a physical player anytime soon..Unless you go to wilkes barre.

This was predictable after he got cleared. All the obvious things aside, it’s not a wise hire. There are much better options than hiring an overhyped GM who is the poster boy for nepotism generational regression. I don’t want a 66 year old Q either.

I don't think anybody will disagree that the past issues with Bowman are bad. That is obvious. However, at what point does somebody get a second chance? Sure we can all have opinions and so on, but personally, if Beach and Kennedy have given their "OK" and forgiveness, who are we to say that is not enough?

Unless you want to talk about the penguins bottom 6 for next season and the way dubas brought carter..Ooops kevin hayes back in the fold for a 2nd rounder and 3 more useless years of hayes.

What about the two guys in college or the 16 year old that all got sexually assaulted by Aldrich. Had Bowman and the Hawks stepped in and done the right thing at the time, none of that happens.

Tampa was not an especially physical team. Neither was Colorado. There's not an exclusive formula to winning a Stanley cup. Putting the most talent together regardless of how soft they are is still a lot better option than sacrificing talent for toughness.

I am so happy people realize what a terrible GM Stan Bowman is/was ! Talion built the Hawks and the McDonough ass hole ran him out. Bowman won despite terrible trades and cap management. This a pretty bad hire from a former agent that should know Stan Bowman’s not so smart.

Don't be fooled by the three cups, Stan Bowman was not a good GM and he is responsible for how dreadful the Hawks are now.

He basically wound up with nothing after trading Panarin, got nothing for Raanta, Leddy, Teravainen, Saad 2x, Byfuglien, Sharp, Danault, and Jokiharju. He also had some of the worst contracts ever in Seabrook and more recently Seth Jones. He had zero ability to work he cap.

He inherited a dynasty caliber team and eventually turned it into rubble.

Trash tier franchise hires another trash tier person. Color me shocked. There's how many people on this planet that deserve a crack at being a GM for a team? And they decide to go with the man who consciously chose to enable sexual assault? Everybody who was involved in the coverup should have been banned from the league for good, and while I generally try to defend Bettman and co, they couldn't have gotten this one any more incorrect.

Obviously given that I'm from Calgary I'm contractually obligated to hate them anyways, but it's like the Oilers actively want people to despise them. They deserve nothing good, it's a travesty they got McDavid, and if Drai has a shred of dignity he'll have already told them he's walking.

I may be cursed with having my favorite teams just generally be bad, but at least nobody on their staffs committed or enabled sexual assault.

I'm not saying steve macintyre type players. There's other forms of toughness and one would be sticking for your teammates. When was the last you seen that in pittsburgh? Geno? I'm talking players with a set..Hornquvist comes to mind. Archibald, ian cole were here but that jerkwad idiot sullivan put cole in the press box. Archy drew alot of penalties and got the team on the power play. This is tough without the website "capspace" to find certain players the penguins lack.

Speaking of the PP, dead last with the great EK. Rather have jack johnson at least he won a cup.

Most players on the florida panthers team would be great. Tom wilson from 10 yrs would be a player i'm talking about also. Anything is better than the bottom 6 with the penguins. Dubas is tanking already it seems.

While I agree with your post it should be noted that McDonough was large and in charge with Rocky Wirtz's full backing no matter what. And McD poop on a bunch of people just to make sure everybody knew. He was in charge of EVERYTHING. Stand up guy Rick Dudley bailed early on as did a few others. And I am no fan of how Stan Bowman got his job in the most obvious set up ever. So mark me down as not a Stan kind of guy. But it's also a fact that he was a stand up guy and didn't lie about knowing the facts. He took his share of the blame and stepped down. Fell on his sword. So while it wouldn't surprise me if he poop the bed as the Oil GM, I feel strongly that he more than the others should get the chance to continue his work in the game.

There's not nearly enough of those type of players to go around. How many actual quality power forwards are there in the league that can excel in the physical aspects of the game and contribute elite offense? Which ones are available and still good? At their peaks Perry, E. Kane, Wilson, Benn, etc. types were great at that role. But there's not many of them and they often age very poorly for the obvious reasons that being physical in this league usually leads to rapid decline.

Bowman inherited the following: Toews, Kane, Sharp, Hossa, Hjalmarsson, Keith, Seabrook, Crawford, and Coach Quennville. Those names (for the most part) make up the best players/ coach in 2010, 2013, and 2015.

Bowman's team had the same top 6-7 players and the same coach for all three cups. You really can't give Holland credit for 98. Holland inherited a cup caliber team. But, he had a completely different roster when he won again in 08, except for Lidstrom.
