bit extreme with that post IMO
cozens is a core guy and underachieved last season which was one of many reasons the draught continues - homiedclown
Sorry, just responding to your original comment where you essentially compare the two. The two players really don't belong in the same sentence, now if you used Olofsson and that 4.75 mil contract then we are no longer in extreme territory. |

I feel we could be stuck with a few bad contracts if some of these "kids" do not turn the corner |

OXNARD, Calif. -- Before the Dallas Cowboys even held their first padded practice of training camp, they suffered a blow to their defense with pass rusher Sam Williams suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, a source told ESPN on Sunday.
The injury will end Williams' season before it could really begin

You're right, and I'm really hoping Adams doesn't do anymore long term 9 mil and above contracts because those can end up ugly-bad, especially when the contract covers some of the player's post prime years.
Currently Power and his contract is a big question mark to me, but due to his age (and status) he is tradable if he doesn't improve within a few years (there's always teams that think they can turn a once upon a time elite prospect into that NHL superstar). I think Byram will be the better player (but who knows). |

No, please no Greenway in the top six let alone the 1st line. Kulich, Benson, McLeod, Zucker all would have to better options over Greenway.
Samuelsson as 3rd pair not ideal, trade him and Greenway for someone like Farabee. |

I don't think there's any chance Byram will be a better player then Power.
Power will be better, and by a significant margin.
Hasn't Adams only signed one player to a long term deal at over a $9M cap hit...?

Yes and I rather not see anymore, I'm good with one, two is the limit, more than that and you end up where the Leafs are 4 players taking half the cap space.
Power better start playing like a man or we just getting a prettier version of Mike Wilson. |

I brought that up around the time UPL signed his extension.
Sabres cap isn’t in a great spot. If we added a top 6 forward. We would be in cap jail next year trying to resign Byram, Quinn, Peterka, and Levi.
Eventually it’s log jam of 2nd contracts. |

only played 23 games for cbus
my point was people are quick to say he stinks yet he gets an ahl deal and we give a guy with a worse ppg, 7 mil plus per year - homiedclown
He does stink and has proven it over 9 professional seasons.
Cozens was given $7m after posting his 31G and 68 Pts as a 21yo.
One is dramatically different than the other.

No worries.

Add in
Thompson
Cozens
Dahlin
UPL
And probably Byram soon too.
Now, in fairness, a couple could be good value contracts in a few years as well. |

Should be able to get better than Farabee..especially if they add a prospect or high pick. |

Depends on how they add a top 6 forward.
FA, yes they are screwed.
Trade with significant Cap going out, nope.
Can Kevyn pull off a major trade of talent coming in? We haven't see it yet, unless Byram really ramps up his game quite a bit. |

Good listen on Serious XM's NHL Channel where the Fantasy Hockey guys are reviewing each of the 32 teams.
They blasted the Sabres for 13 years of crap.. and then Tage's comments about how the team took shortcuts and blamed Donnie for it.
Rightly, they pushed back by stating the obvious of how about being a professional, especially at age 26 and being paid $7m.
They also don't buy into the Skinner BO.
All in All, they weren't too high on this version of the Sabres especially given the competition in the Atlantic and Eastern Conference. |
