He would absolutely not move McLeod out of 3C. I would take him over Krebs (straight swap) just for the offensive potential, and that we need a cheap center replacement option if Krebs goes. - TheSabresTaco
I'm not so sure. Kid has game. But I am definitely not a huge fan of McLeod so maybe it's my blinders. |

They're overloaded now with middle six players.
They need a Top 4 RhD and maybe a 2LW. - IonSabres
Peterka Zucker Benson Quinn Tuch are the 5 guys competing for those top6 wing spots IMO. Bordereau would just help solidify the depth there IMO. He can play inside or out. |

I do not think this meme means what you think it means but my point still stands: You instigated and then promptly got shut down, because it doesn’t matter how many young women you take advantage of, have sex with or exploit - You are basic and bitter; Pegulaville as what he envisions he will be as a wise old man. Except that wisdom from a fool is folly. |

That’s not good enough when 2 out of 5 of those guys shouldn’t be in the top 6 in 2024.
I don’t think Benson or zucker suck. I just think at minimum. A top 6 player needs to hit / almost guarantee 50 to 55 +++ points a season. |

fwiw if you want to believe kevo, he said regardless of the coach, he was going to move skinner because he was no longer a first line player. - TheSabresTaco

I can take a joke, but in that fateful thread, you called me out as a "slumlord" without any reason, any backup or context. I then nicely told my story about my actual landlord experience, renting to 5 WOMEN aged 19-22 (who are still friends of ours btw... I never once took advantage of them or even kissed any of them.) and how I met my wife who was 22 at the time. I made a joke about "goo times" of being single and living in a house with 6 awesome young women.
Then you have the stones to call me a groomer, a rapey pedo? If you were a journalist, I'd be suing you for libel. If we meet in person, I'd punch you in the balls. On a hockey board, I point out how you can't take a joke and you prove my point exactly by calling me a pedo again. What the actual Frank is wrong with you? Like reallllly wrong with you?
Never mind, it's a rhetorical question (look it up). |

hate to say it man but you gotta take off the angry shades until you at least watch him perform with the team. he's not flashy but he's very good at his job, and that's forechecking, defending and creating offensive opportunity.

Benson has a good shot to break 40-45 points, so he's at least in the ballpark. Zucker, I hear ya, just more the state of things. It's why, if a top6 winger is beyond Adams, I wouldn't mind getting someone who can be another 2nd - 3rd line tweener. Think he's really getting slept on due to SJ's wonderkids coming in. |

I'm trying. The trade probably did make it worse and that's unfair. That being said, those traits are normally bottom6 traits. His production indicates a 4th line role. We basically need the production to start coming, not just opportunities. Time will tell.
Still don't think it should stop us from signing someone who can compete with him for minutes. Think TB does that in pretty short order. |

If it helps, just focus on what the guy can do and has done instead of including the player he was traded for in your rationale.
I think we can both agree that the cost to acquire McLeod to be our 3C was objectively "expensive". We disagree on value, but that's besides the point here. Point is, they paid a lot for him to be here. You're not going to pay a lot again just to have a guy compete with him for the same position. If you're trading a low cost (value) asset, you can probably expect that player to create low cost (value) results. And that player is not unseating McLeod.
Especially when there's positions still looking to be adequately filled elsewhere. And your competition is your winger prospects. |

Isn't the bolded the entire draft plan for every 1st round pick? |

Sure. Closest guy who can play that role is probably Wahlberg and that's two years out.
So if you want to win, you make trades like this one, using future or recent 1st round picks.

I just can't imagine Lindy wanting Laine. He'd probably prefer Benson or Zucker in the top-6 tbh |

Can't argue the first part, you're right.
But why is acquiring a lower cost player to compete for the same job a bad thing? Because it may end up making the higher cost trade look worse? Bordeleau is still a relatively unknown commodity. He's had some success in the AHL, looks ready to make the jump, but shows a lot of promise. I don't see why, especially given the fact TB can switch to wing, he wouldn't be a good insurance policy. |
