It's a much weirder choice to come to a hockey thread to make bigoted jokes than it is to challenge someone on it. |

I'm sorry you are hurt but the joke still made me laugh. |

It is funny, it's a whole lot of nothing, the former governing body of the sport did a test that claimed the person in question had XY chromosomes and disqualified them from competing in the 2023 World Championships. The test was questioned by the IOC and deemed to be too inconclusive for them to accept due to the people administering the test being called corrupt due to their ties to the Kremlin (the IBA (who used to be the administering federation of amateur/Olympic boxing) being HQed in Russia and the CEO being a Russian oligarch who supposedly has a stake in a state owned Russian oil company.) and allowed her and another fighter to compete against the wishes and protests of many of the competitors that were going to go against them.
Personally, since the African woman won gold and completely dominated all of her opponents in the draw, to the point where her first opponent gave up after the first punch broke the chin strap of her head gear and the second nearly breaking her nose, she should have been forced to fight in a higher weight class because of her distinct power advantage, but that's a whole other issue and has nothing to do with her gender or perceived and assumed by many gender. |

Yeah, I've read the backstory. The thing is the girl who gave up later came out and apologized for starting the firestorm in the first place, as she didn't actually allude to anything to do with gender in her statement.
Fact is this woman has been competing for years and has lost to several different women in the past, so it's not like she's showing up and going undefeated. Weight classes do exist for a reason, but genetic advantages are what they are. To me it's not much different than complaining that it's unfair how good Michael Phelps is at swimming because he's simply built for it |

In boxing, if you are much stronger than your weight class, you are supposed to go up a class or two in order to be more on par with everyone. Genetic advantages, sure, but when you're strong enough to literally break someone's chin strap and hit them hard enough to knock them out in one punch and cause someone in the same weight class to retire, that's a problem. Again, has nothing to do with gender or perceived gender and has more to do with the governing body not making her go up a weight class or two to compensate for her overwhelming strength advantage. There's a reason heavyweight fighters aren't allowed to fight against lower weight classes, one punch from a pro heavyweight could easily kill a someone in a lower weight class strictly due to the strength/power advantage. |

I would like to identify as a HHOF NHL All-Star who scored 1400 points, please respect my wishes and address me as such, regardless of how ridiculous they are….thank you in anticipation of your understanding. |

for the amount of time some people spend on this site, donating $20 in order to provide a better experience isn't the worst idea.
