He's got near the same number of KHL starts as Fedotov yet the team hands an NHL job to Feds and apparently doesn't plan to give him a shot... maybe that's his POV.

Either way, he could just go back to Minsk, be a star and be around his family and friends. Or he could ride busses alone for pennies on the dollar for the next 2+ years.

You'd only put up with that if your dream was to be an NHL player. Maybe that's not the case for him after all.

or maybe he was misled/lied to.......

He'll be making about a 172K, so it's not chump change. There is a significant age difference.

https://flyersnittygritty...otov-to-begin-off-season/

I know the Fedotov AAV is higher than expected, but the contract was agreed upon prior to the player coming over from Russia.

I'm told that the contract had to be a certain number to get Fedotov to come to North America.

Not ideal, but understandable given the circumstances.

Laugh all you want but he wasn't leaving Russia until the Flyers met his asking price for his second contract.

This is why I do not trust the Flyers. Fedotov is a good not great goalie. If he wants a contract like the one he got why couldn't the Flyers just say no? They always seem like they are giving in during contract negotiations.

Exactly, just sign a vet in free agency and tell Fedotov to have a nice life in Russia.

This organization constantly shoots itself in the foot for no reason.

What kind of stats differentiate a good goalie from a great goalie?

Can't really blame him if he'd rather go home and make more money and be more comfortable in his limited time as a hockey player.

Just because they drafted him doesn't mean he really owes the Flyers anything.

- Tomahawk

I hate this attitude. If you went to the draft. If you wanted to be drafted into the NHL, enough is enough with this sulking because you didn’t get drafted to where you wanted to go.

His international career (stats) seemed like he was good. The eye test and stats from last year tells me he has work to do at the NHL level. I only care about the NHL level. Of course he will be better than he was last year. He was put in a terrible position last year.

I do not think he will be a regular starter at the NHL level in his career though. So for me the contract he received was an overpay. I hope I am wrong.

Did he talk to Kolosov I wonder? Or is that just what the Flyers are telling him.

I think he is at camp when all is said and done.

We really should have it in the back of our minds that Kolosov can be the next Bob. IMO it should be open competition for the top two spots at training camp.

Unfortunately not how it works. Would a team even claim Fedotov if he was waived? Assuming he would have to be placed on waivers to be sent down.

Have to remember that last year he spoke little English, so he could not communicate well with his D.

He was using pads that were not broken in, that can translate to fat rebounds.

He had very little practice with his team.

Didn't know how pucks bounced off boards.

I take nothing away from last year other than he got some experience.

It seems to me that Fedotov speaks passable English already.

Doesn’t look like he’s ever thrown a baseball before, but he still gets it over the plate. 👍
