So that means that since there is no arbitration hearing there is no buyout window, correct? So this is likely the team we go into the season with unless getting certainty on Lindgren's cap hit makes Drury more likely to make a trade now.

It looks like we have about $600k in cap space, but I assume some people will be sent down and we'd have a little over a million but I could be wrong about that

no, all they needed was to get an arbitration date and that made them eligible for 2nd buyout window

I don’t see that as a bad thing. Huge cap crunch coming next summer and I just don’t think his play warrants over 5 million on a long term deal.

I would have gone $4.5 mil for 3-4 years, as I said in the column

I think he's gone next summer. I'm fine with that if we can use that $5M wisely and bring in a good replacement for him

Credit to Chris Drury, he didn't bite on the years. I'll give him him this one.

Wow, surprised Drury kept that to one year at only 4.5. Big fan of this signing. Would have been okay with another two years, but this is ideal. Pretty big gamble by Lindgren

Like Callahan about ten years ago, Lindgren has outpriced himself here. I expect a trade, maybe packaged with Kakko, any day now before camp begins...say Frankie V and Rocco (with some salary retained).

Might as well pair him up with Trouba. Neither will be here this time next year.

Drury better ace free agency or the trade market, because there is nothing ready defensively in the pipeline., Drew Fortescue and CJ Emery are years away and neither are top-pair options. Emery may be top four with the possibility for growth.

To be fair they weren’t going to run the same 6 d men out there for Igor’s whole tenure. Fox, Miller and Schneider seem like the 3 staples. Jones has a chance to earn his spot this season. Then the other 2 could be fun question marks via trade or free agency. Or maybe Lindgren plays great this year and forces their hand. But I like having the flexibility of Lindgren on a one year deal to find out then be stuck
