Exactly where do you think Jones and Edstrom/Rempe/Brodzinski are coming from?
- Tonybere

Their current 3rd RHD carries an 8 million dollar cap hit. their previously 4th line center carried a 3.64 million dollar cap. Look at me go eh?

I guess it's safe to assume Lindgren is a goner after this season. If he plays well, he will have a few teams looking to add him most likely getting offers the Rangers wont want to top.

Most contracts dont age well in the NHL, it is what it is. We knew he was over paid by at least a million when he signed, now it's like 4 million.

Life in the NHL.

I'm starting to get concerned you have some sort of parasite in your brain. You weren't this stupid before.
Can you start with a definition for "previous?" What the (frank) does that have to do with the next 4th liner? Also, that $8M may well rebound to the 2nd pair after a summer of rehab on his broken ankle.
But, since none of this fits your narrative, please feel free to respond with some sort of statistical graphic that mildly touches on what I'm talking about while feeding your juvenile agenda to annoy.

He absolutely did. And he made 1.5 million he'd still be here. His cap hit wasn't his fault.

So then you'd like to box Schneider into his current role of 3rd pair d-man, also making 7 figures. on and on it goes.

Their current 2RD makes $2.2M and their current 2RW makes $2.3M.

Their 1RD is signed to one of the best contracts in the NHL. Their 2C has the 61st highest cap hit amongst centers and had the 19th most points. They have the best goalie in the NHL who has another year making the 10th highest AAV.

But let's just point out all the negatives. Look at me go eh?

Excellent counter points. Just goes to show you there is somewhat of a balance.

If our top players performed in the playoffs, we would be in the finals. Problem is, they dont. Until they do, its impossible for the Rangers to win the Cup.

I agree with you that this core hasn't gotten over the hump yet but looking at most Cup winners a lot of them had years like the last 3 we had here before they ultimately won. Whether this group can follow suit remains to be seen but this is certainly not the first core that "couldn't get it done" and then ultimately did.

Tampa could have blown up their core anytime from 2013 to 2019 when they got swept in the first round after what was at the time the best regular season ever. They didn't and went to 3 straight SCF, winning 2 of them

All this to say that just because they haven't won yet, doesn't mean their incapable of winning. Fingers crossed they take the next step this year

The way it is, Panarin is not Stamkos and Mika isn't Point in the Playoffs. Until these guys produce, I cant see a path for the Rangers to the Cup.

Hey that's my point of view

I think what SkjeiStadium is dead on accurate and I think I even alluded to something similar when you & I had this discussion in the past. Just because they haven't gotten it done yet, doesn't make it impossible. He alluded to Tampa and their core... I think I mentioned Washington when we spoke about it Brukie

At the end of the day, winning the Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy to win in all of sports. It could take a core group 1 time to win it all, 7 times, or they can have multiple shots at it and never win it. It's the way it is for now....but I still have hope and faith in this group

Time will tell

And you're entitled to it for sure.

My counter point would be that until that 2020-2022 stretch, Stamkos and Point weren't the Stamkos and Point that we know them as today. In 2019 they were largely viewed the same way as Panarin and Zib are right now.

In 2019 Point was 23 years old and had put up 16 points in 17 playoff games the previous year.

- BINGO!

And he was -5 in those 17 games the Tampa blew a 3-2 lead in the conference finals.

He also had 1 point in their 4 game sweep in 2019.

Point is an awesome player and yes he was younger at that time than the Zib and Panarin comparisons in this conversation but my point was that neither of those two were looked at as "winners" until they actually won.

Mika and Panarin were both PPG players in this years playoffs too yet they have been trashed for not being playoff players

We are both right and both wrong!!

There are 2 different Mikas and Panarins. Off the top of my head. First 8 games, they had like 25 points between them, last 8 they had like 5 points, give or take a point or 2. The deeper into the playoffs the less they produce. It's been a fact the last 4 years so now it's a strong pattern.

63 points doesnt scream first line center production especially when most of those points were on the PP if I'm correct.

They were PPG players but in crunch time, they didnt produce First8 games like I said like 25 points between them. Then Like 5 points the last 8 games, most of those points were on the PP too I think. 5v5 was dismal. Cant win like that, which they have proven the last 4 years together. The first 2 lines cant go cold at the same time.
