Mike I know this has been requested before but can you screenshot the players stats from recent seasons? We don't care what they did in 2011 |

Guhle is young so there's probably a lot of untapped potential in there - but so far he has been pushed into 2nd pair duties and he's been typically poor at that level - he and Savard and he and Matheson were a combined -16 at 5v5 playing 2nd pair minutes. Now Guhle did play well at times, in particular, with Kovacevic in 3rd pair minutes. That said Kovacevic was quite effective for them last year, playing well with Xhekaj and hs predominant partner, Harris, as well.
But pressing a 21/22 year old into top-4 minutes has rarely yielded positive results in the NHL historically.
I say all that by way of saying that I find the value of 2nd contracts accelerating out of control these days - and this is not centered on the Habs or Guhle, but he's an example of how it feels . . . off. I'm not saying that Guhle isn't likely a $5.5m defenseman - eventually - but in my opinion he won't be that guy for at least another couple of years, and then his value probably peaks at around $5.5m - $6m. The concept of "if you have the cap, you might as well use it," isn't one I'm fond of.

If they don't change Woll's number this year, I am going to lose my poop.
It's Carlton's number, FFS.
Why am I the only one who sees this? |

Has anyone ever seen Carlton and Woll in the same room together?
No, never. Why? Because it's the same dude.

I'd like to see the Leafs do it with Knies, though. As I feel he's stepped up and played better in the playoffs 2 years in a row now.
Get ahead of the curve with him and get him longish term for a decent CAP hit, before he gets consistent time on the top line. |
