Gio was captain long before Sutter got there. Part of his job should be to keep the dressing room cohesive Instead he came out and told Tkachuk enough of the sideshow antics, virtually drawing a line in the dressing room. After he was claimed by Seattle, Sutter should have named Chucky captain but in Sutter fashion he chose no one.
Don’t get me wrong MG was a great player for the Flames but not the right choice for captain.

And Chucky should have stopped with the antics. Look at what it did for him in Florida last year. He focused on the game last year and not the extra crap and it got him a cup. Seems like a pretty smart call from the captain.

You didn’t watch the playoffs?Chucky toned it down but him and Sammy took many liberties. Let’s agree that he got smarter. Too bad Gio didn’t.

So telling him to cut out the immature antics when clearly no one was on Tkachuk's side somehow divided the locker room and made Gio a bad captain? Yeah, that makes sense. It's not like he won an award or anything for being a great leader. But telling someone to knock off the nonsense, bad captain. And then you think someone whose immaturity apparently divided the locker room should be made captain?

What does a good captain do? Make everyone support the immature antics?

Flames won one playoff series with Gio as captain and he was injured for the entire series. Let’s bring a 41 year old back to block a spot from a youngster, that sounds like an awesome idea.
You still haven’t told us how Conroy pooched the Kylington signing.
