And here's Hathaway getting blown up by Trouba even though Nic is on the ice and is supposedly a deterrent.

I thought Hathaway was supposed to be a deterrent

It's time for the Flyers to become unburdened by what has been!

In that vein ...

They should bring back JVR. He scored 38 points last year and only cost the Bruins $1 million, almost half of what ND makes.

Bring him back as a bottom 6 guy at close to minimum and trade him at the TDL. They'd actually have to let someone go/trade them to make room but he works on a lot of levels.

My buddy watched some of today’s games in Plymouth. He says Patrick Sharp, John LeClair and Keith Jones are all there. No Danny B. Kinda weird seeing how at least 8 Flyers prospects are there.

Why would Brink be the odd man out? When RYJO goes to IR they will have 13 forwards. ND sits while Brink plays
- WhiskeyMan

Hope you are right, but in what "world according to Jones" does that happen?

Let me echo some of the brain surgeons on here. How do you know that? Have you sat in on the meetings? Did you know what Tortorella is thinking?

- MJL

lol you, the chief brain surgeon has everyone pegged! Yes Nic played 60 games as anyone, even idiots with no reading comprehension can look up. Do you, oh great one, have insight as to why Torts the dictator inserted Nic into the lineup for those 60 games? Please explain. Your vast superior knowledge will help clear up any questions. Thank you!

This simple, eh? Not like we haven’t had JvR at the trade deadline before…

Well a vet culture guy would have to be traded but yes. Pretty sure we've never had JVR on an expiring contract at around $1 million.

Last time around he was on a large contract and the GM overplayed his hand. This time around, whatever you can get, you get. At the very worst, he finishes the season and he's off the cap at the end of the year but a guy who can still give you 30+ points, someone will want him.

What makes you think he wants to come back and play for this coaching staff?

ZERO reason to think he wants to come back here and no reason to think DB would ever ask him to. It is getting late in the offseason though so if he wanted to continue playing, it was a fun hypothetical.

The Flyers are going to keep trying to outculture teams to victory.

There is a caveat, however. Let’s say Matvei Michkov explodes onto the NHL scene as a fully-formed star. Multiple U25 players take big steps forward and emerge as borderline stars of the Konecny ilk. Sam Ersson (or Ivan Fedotov) establishes himself as a clear-cut No. 1 starting NHL goalie. Suddenly, the Flyers aren’t hanging around the playoff bubble; they’re up there with Carolina and the Rangers and the Devils, battling for the Metropolitan Division title.

That would change things. Then, it would look like the Flyers are simply arriving ahead of schedule, and might actually have the juice for a legitimate playoff run. If that’s how the season plays out, I could see general manager Daniel Briere being convinced to accelerate their timeline, sure.

Charlie isn't saying it's probable but he's planting the seed saying it's possible. We are going to see more and more articles, not from the Flyers themselves of course, that if things break the right way, if you look at it in a certain light, etc. that the Flyers are back and rebuild (retool) is over.

Absolutely nobody is talking about not being in the playoff hunt and actually rebuilding. It's about biding your time until the wins inevitably start rolling in.

if they start rolling in.....

As I see it only Montreal and Columbus are below the flyers. I also think Columbus will surprise. There will also be a team or 2 that ends up bad. Unless a half dozen teams falter again flyers have no shot at the playoffs.

Just another propaganda piece setting the fans up for trades and what not. Just amazes me not on of the local beats will report that this team just isnt very good.
