Matt Savoie is a top 9 winger. Their wingers without Kane:

Hyman, RNH, arvidsson, skinner, Holloway(for now), perry. Even if Holloway goes, which I don't think he does, I think they use Janmark to fill the void and call up a guy like the Drake. They're a championship caliber team that doesn't have time to train a guy like him on the fly.

Helenius gets a tryout. Wild guessing at this stage but he's an extremely mature hockey player for his age, like Benson. With the current roster they will need to depend on injuries to get his games in.

I think Savoie hits it first as long as Helenius doesn't blow camp away like Benson.

That's fair. Think Lindy tips those scales at all? He certainly leaned on vets when he was here last, don't know if that changed in NJ, but the Holtz treatment rang familiar bells.

And actually, how much power do you think Lindy has? AKA, can he TELL Adams he doesn't want a player on the roster? Or is it a suggestion like under Granato.

I'd be more concerned about the next pair of expansion drafts than worry about offer sheeting. The next CBA could, I guess, incentivize offer sheeting. Which would be bad ass.

Agreed. Losing Levi is going to suck.

For sure my friend. I doubt we're that far off on the whole, I'm just more fed up right now.

And come on, the impact faceoffs have on team wins is always a fun exercise! Or can I interest you in some banter on the internal cap and whether or not it's real?

- QuinnFan

I hate Terry as much as the next balanced Sabres fan but I still don't see proof in internal roster cap. You could make the suggestion that Terry is only willing to give the money up when he needs to ie extensions, which will draw us pretty close to the cap in the next year.

The factors, in reality, is a lack of UFA interest, the inability or lack of desire to make expensive trades, and a re(re)build with a ton of ELC and low paid talent.

Outside of the roster, it's a combination of being cheap and over paying bad employees.

My feelings over the years is that Terry has allowed more percentage of funds to be used on hockey ops as we've escaped and moved away from COVID collapse.

I love the action. The success rate of these passing is, I think, 2. That's sad. And there's a reason(s) for that.

You need to be willing to significantly overpay a player to get him into your org. Finish his bloated contract then hopefully come to a less bloated, still too high contract.

Last I checked Dustin Penner and Kotkaniemi were and are massive F's.

I'd be losing my mind picking up Broberg for 2*4. Whatever.

Holloway I could live with. I think they match it though.

from the blues standpoint

they have to be better than Alexei Toropchenko and Scott Perunovich

aside from the year they got hall, for the most part the sabres have been a bottom 10 team in terms of spending to the cap in pretty much every season

as an owner that said from this day forward, money no longer be an issue for the sabres and their sole reason for existence was to win cups, seems a small market team with an unlimited wallet would use that to gain an edge and they have not during the past 13 years

Exactly. They have no real prospects outside of Snuggeru, and their active roster is the worst in the league

Is he exempt from expansion if not protected? I would assume we would opt for
7,3,1

And UPL would be the goalie we protect

They need to trade Greenway and Kulich needs to be not a pylon next month

Kulich needs Lindy to push him, looking forward to Camp with Kulich.

Should the NHL expand and using the rules from previous expansion drafts players with 3 years of professional experience would need to be protected and because they gave UPL a 5 team NTC if the expansion team was on that list they would be screwed and have to protect him

Bills still in way better shape than the Vikings.
What kind of evil, VooDoo stormcloud is following them around this year?

I like Armstrongs offer-sheet moves. Ruthless. A GM with balls who takes advantage of an opportunity to press a cap-strapped team and potentially poach 2 good young guys
- lulags

The plus, you may land an RFA and hopefully they developed further.
The minus, you likely significantly overpaid compared to their market value.
If you have the Cap Space to absorb, it's a great action as long as the contract period is short so that you can renegotiate against true value.

I like this idea! What’s your idea to drive movement among the GMs? And is Gary Bettmen the right guy to take hockey through the next cba? I’ve wanted him gone for ever, but the owners seem to love him.

I don’t think Terry is cheap with players. He’s been cheap with the front office. Yes Tim and Botts came well regarded but they still had zero actual GM experience. Adams had zero actual front office experience…. Terrys problem is he tossed the keys to his wife and him and her believe they know more than NHL lifers ….

he has been cheap in literally every phase of hockey operations aside from having to overpay for crap coaches as not many coaches would come here recently due to them trashing the reputation of the franchise

Now this is interesting.
How would the proposed incentivization work?
