It’s free speech, though. It’s offensive but it’s still free speech. Do you ask for a mod when you travel through Belmont or Franklin Park? No, you just don’t go there. Give it a rest.

Im not offended at all by the comment. Couldn’t care less to be honest - to each their own eh. I was simply pointing out that I’ve seen folks get banned on this site for just chirping and mocking a hockey team or player - and that gets let go? It just seems odd to me is all. Dude flat out called a guy (who I think is gay) a derogatory hate slang like that. Where is the line drawn? These folks are hillbillies it will get to radicalized slangs if it’s allowed.

Those are undesirable neighborhoods in Detroit. So you don’t live there. Context is everything. Queer and gay are used interchangeably but I understand it’s considered a slur depending on context. Mods can easily get heavy handed and stifle free speech to the point that no one wants to post. Be careful what you wish for.

I’m Canadian. It’s not that I wish for it - just doesn’t make sense (the rationale regarding bans). That’s part of what I was speaking to was the heavy handed mod for a basic chirp - then crickets for stuff like this.

That poster is intelligent to be honest. He has polarizing opinions. He’s exercising his free speech and nothing he says bothers me. Offensive speech is protected speech. I don’t like the term hate speech because it’s an emotive thing and someone other than me gets to define it for everyone. Hate speech and hate crime get conflated. Lol.
