Interesting to note that the Flyers PP has been dead last every season since Ghost was traded. And every PP QB they've tried since has failed miserably.
- Tomahawk

What makes me even more angry is that AV was fired soon after he had Chuck get rid of Ghost

doesn't change what I said.

Ghost last 161 games as a flyer he put up 28 PP points. Doesn't look like he was all that productive on the PP to me. Hell Tony D put up 19 in 70 games.

Yeah, the injuries plus they completely trashed his confidence. Players like him have to push the envelope and play on a knife's edge... the Flyers basically neutered him.
- Tomahawk

That's what gives me pause on the current coaching staff's ability to develop elite players. Too many non-negotiables from Tortorella in how he wants players to play. They will undoubtedly try and instill some "plow horse" into the thoroughbred of Michkov.

I am guessing the bad knees kind of sapped his mobility, so he couldn't play that knife's edge to overcome his other deficiencies. It definitely trashed his confidence. He tried to push the envelope and his legs betrayed him.

Since the trade he has put up seasons of 51, 41, and 56 points while playing 82, 75, and 81 games. Its one of my most hated trades this franchise ever did.

so agree, just dumb, the guy was obviously hurt, thought there was a core injury in there too. Yea, give up on him, but to pay what they did to move him and the circumstance, just dumb.

not according to "jonesy". They are hyping this kid up so much it is hysterical.
- hello it's me 2050

The internal comparison I've heard is to being a younger version of Nick Seeler. Not sure I'd quite call that "hyping" him, with all due respect to both players, but they do think McDonald won't need much AHL time as an older prospect who already knows the identity that's expected of him as a player.

hyping him up in the sense he seems to be always talked about.

lets see him in a non sheltered role playing big minutes in LHV. Then reevaluate.

Taking a shot at the lines for this coming season based on the current roster:

Tyson Foerster - Sean Couturier - Matvei Michkov
Owen Tippett - Morgan Frost - Travis Konecny
Joel Farabee - Scott Laughton - Bobby Brink
Noah Cates - Ryan Poehling - Garnet Hathaway
Extras: Nic Deslauriers, Olle Lycksell

This isn't that bad. I think the Flyers will qctually have good scoring depth.

How it'll actually be:

Tipp - Cates - TK
Foerster - Poehling - Michkov
Farabee - Laughton - Hathaway
ND - Coots/Frost

11/7, can't sit EJ out, he's such a pro.

I believe you said if you get 2 nhl players out of a draft it is a good draft.

nah that was just a flat out bad waste of a pick.

Well the Ivan not reaching his potential is all on Ronald as he never put him in a position to succeed. Same with Sanheim.

- hello it's me 2050

Its not my standard, its the standard that I have learned that most NHL organizations have when evaluating a draft, that if they can get 2 players from a draft that play 200+ NHL games, then that is a good draft. Getting 3 players with 200+ games is a great draft. Of course, there are 4th lines players and 1st line players so this has to be considered.

really doesn't answer my question though does it. that is just a deflection.
- hello it's me 2050

no deflection intended at all. You asked the question: Who have they developed? Any picks outside the 1st rd have they turned into top end players? And I answered it.

Hunter MacDonald is an AHL/NHL tweener at best.

Well, again that kind of speaks to his injuries and usage. In his last three healthy seasons after Philly he has put up 62 PP points. (9g and 53a)

In his ENTIRE Flyers career he put up 27 goals and 79 assists on the PP. That IS productive. Way more than anything we have now.

We all know he was oil and water with AV. But it still stings that they traded him because AV wanted him gone and AV was fired 22 games in to the next season.

I love it! And the skepticism is well deserved until we see real change from Torts.

other teams are schitting their pants.

Frost should be with MM to start and not really debatable to me.

I'm not saying he is a top pairing defenseman, not at all. Just saying I think he is going to be a good player in terms of being a stay at home defender, good size, good legs, smart player and a leader.

We've seen them get excited about this type of player before... Sam Morin, Oliver Lauridsen, Jack St. Ivany, Kevin Marshall, David Printz... it always plays out the same way.

If a guy doesn't have talent all the size/moxie/intangibles in the world isn't gonna turn him into an NHL player.

overall productive . last 3 seasons he wasnt productive on the PP like I showed.

The trade itself I have no issue with. The aftermath is what has and continues to hurt them.
