Just listened to the NK podcast. It's a good listen and Di Marco seems to have an objective read on the Flyers. Cote and Settlemeyer are much too optimistic. |

Fire Rocky, hire Recchi. FFS, it’s virtually impossible that he could do a worse job than Rocky. |

No doubt in my mind that is the PP is not at least 19% this year, Briere has got to replace Thompson. There is more than enough talent on the Flyers to have at least an average PP. If they had that last year the Flyers would have waltzed into the playoffs. |

any thoughts on Ek sayin flyers are interested in Boucher and Greig? - hello it's me 2050
I’m not so sure these two are “elite” prospects consistent with the mantra of a new error of orange as talked about as far as “needing elite talent”. |

I am ok with adding a center and trading out a wing. Talent level needs to similar though.

Why would they have an average PP? They don’t have an elite passer, shooter, and have tried every single Dman and none have fit |

Have they tried not standing still and not awkwardly holding the puck while figuring out what to do with it?
No creativity whatsoever. Seems more like a coaching issue.

Not going to say they aren’t stationary but they really don’t have the personnel to be good. With Michkov coming in maybe they could be 22nd instead of 30th. |

They didnt. Michkov changes that at least in the next few years if not sooner. What constitutes as an elite Shooter? Konecny had 33 goals last year, Tippett 28 goals. You also had Farabee with 22 goals. Foerster had 20 as a rookie. Thats some pretty good company Tippett and Konecny are with. Robertson had 29 goals, Hintz, Guentzel had 30 goals. They are no Pastrnak but Flyers had some of their best PP years with 20+ goal scorers
Drysdale clearly has the skill on the PP. Health being the concern of course. Dont forget he played through a hernia with the Flyers to avoid missing even more time than he did due to the shoulder injury. Even then he still looked pretty good on the PP. Very mobile, moved the puck well. Didnt just stand there like many of our previous Dmen on the PP.
Flyers need to learn how to cycle properly that is their main issue on the PP. They stand still and just pass the puck around the perimeter until someone, usually the point guy, shoots on net and even then no ones really there for the tip or rebound. All their 5 on 5 goals are coming off the rush. We arent scoring goals when we have possession in the zone. All the Flyers offense is off the rush
Columbus does not have more skill than Philly and they were still ahead of PHI by 3%. PIT on the other hand has Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Karlsson and for most the season Guentzal and their PP was awful at 15.27. Barely better than a Columbus team with Boone Jenner as #1C
It is all structure and coaching.

Out all the defenseman used on the PP. Drysdale had the lowest point production rate. In my opinion, it remains to be seen if he has the skill to be a quality PP defenseman.

No net front presence at all. It doesn’t matter what they do if the goalie can see everything. |

And what did they have? Two elite passers in Giroux and Voracek. Previously Timonen, Streit, and Ghost all proven PP QBs. I’m not saying they can’t get better but expecting league average is foolish. |

The Flyers would have to almost double their PP% from last season to get to league average. They don't have a single proven PP producer.

At a minimum what could it hurt to hire Recchi as a PP coach, or I agree with BiggE, jus treplace Thompson with Recchi now. If the PP clicks at 20% this season, the Flyers will be in the hunt. |

Freak'n San Jose had a 20% PP last season. There is no doubt in my mind with shooters like Tippet and Foerster, and passers like Drysdale and Frost, this PP should be very good. The big things that killed them last year were o-zone faceoffs and zone entries. Fix these and the possession time doubles. Then emphasize the 3 main ways to score on the PP, 1. bumber one timers from the side wall or from below the goal line, 2. one timers from the top of either circle, or 3. walk the blue line and find a shooting lane through traffic. There is more than enough talent here, the key is possession and clarity of which way to score. |

It always annoyed the piss out of me that they would set up at the circle but seem allergic to attempting a one timer. They passed them up so often one could almost surmise they were being coached to do so. Like they were more afraid of missing and the puck rimming around and out of the zone than actually developing a scoring chance. And invariably they would either force the puck in to traffic at the net or pass it out allowing the defense to get in position. It was maddening.
