None of the guys you mentioned are from Quebec and therefore will be despised by half of the fanbase.

The Drouin trade was clearly a great trade in term of value.

I mean, getting rid of the Anderson contract is nice, but Letang is 37, and the habs still have 2 veterans on the backend, so I don't really get the logic behind this roomer lol.

From a Montreal perspective, it kinda works.

You get a veteran RHD that will both replace Savard in a year as a mentor and can still play a top 4 role.

You give up an asset you can afford to in Harris and a cap dump in Anderson....

Honestly, I just don't see why the Pens would even consider it unless it's really as a favor to Letang.

but Savard is only 33, and Matheson already plays the puck-moving dman role very well for now imho. unless he's made of adamantium, Letang should have a significant drop-off very soon in the way he's able to contribute.

also I think it is the pens trying to do Letang a favor, as apparently he's the one who's been showing interest in playing in MTL.

It's not a perfect fit but combined with trading away Anderson's contract, I think it would be a done deal if the rumour was true.

yeah, Anderson going the other way really is the most positive thing for the habs in all of this. don't get me wrong, I really like Letang, but if it were to happen it should've been a few years ago, now it sounds rather late in his career lol.

but hey, maybe this is the year Anderson finally gets things going...?

Already too many D on the team.

Do not need to add another. Especially a 37-year-old one (38 by the end of the season) with 4 years left @ $6.1M.

ya me too, it changes the perspective

for the too many d, well if you are giving Harris its a moot argument

yes and no, adding another veteran to the mix while they still have a bunch of prospects on the backend isn't ideal.
