Love hearing stories about Sam from other teams. It really gives us Ranger fans an appreciation for him. We've been blessed with great announcers since I've been alive. I couldn't imagine having someone like Jack Edwards calling games night in and night out

Congrats to Sam! Great career! I'm old enough to remember Jim Gordon (and the Bill Chatwick aka "The Big Whistle". Hope we get Kenny Albert, even if that means Don LaGreca will need to fill in on many nights.

Let's win it for Sam in 2024-25. For all the off season talk about how much Shestyerkin will get, the failed Trouba trade that will most likely take place next summer, Right Wings, and the question of whether Kakko would be dealt, the most under-reported issue that stands between this NYR team and winning the Stanley Cup, is the absolute ultra need for a top 9 center. Since drafting Brandon Dubinsky, (2004-60th overall), Artem Anisimov, (2006-54th overall), Derek Stepan,(2008-51st overall) and JT Miller,(2011-15th overall), the Rangers have only drafted one NHL center,(Filip Chytil in 2017-21st overall). Dominic Moore was drafted back in 2000. Got traded away and made his way back. There were swings and misses. Nobody bigger than Lias Andersson. Chytil brings a lot of speed, skill, a great shot, but is not a 200 foot player, is not good on faceoffs and is not hard to play against. Moreover, his health concerns are as big of a factor as any for a team that genuinely wants to compete for a cup. I love Trocheck. I recognize Zibanejad's issues last year, but some have made him a whipping boy and it's absurd. He's not a HOF. His contract is not an anchor. The lack of center depth has made the Rangers easier to match up against. The 2014 team(that didn't win, but got to the SCF), had Stepan, Richards, Brassard, with Moore and Brian Boyle on the 4th line. What's ironic, is the NYR could use a center like Chris Drury. Wennberg was a weak attempt to fix the problem. I get the waiving of Goodrow, but must say that Sam Carrick is a 13th forward on a contending team. Same with Brodzinskii. I'd try Edstrom at 4th line center. No guarantee he can handle it. It should be looked at as a project that hopefully clicks over the course of a long season. In the meantime, let's win a cup for all of us, especially Sam Rosen! Chris Drury, go out an trade for a shut down 3rd line center.

In other Oiler news, Nail Yakupov, who turns 31 in October, has signed with Kunlun Red Star, the KHL team based in Beijing. It's his fifth KHL stop. He joins former Oilers Tomas Jurco and Adam Clendening with Kunlun.

Chytil is the 3C whether people like it or not. If he stays healthy it really makes the rangers dangerous, having a 3rd line who can score more consistently. On paper Cuylle Chytil Kakko COULD be one of the better ones in the NHL. Kakko needs to produce tho

Before he got hurt last year Chytil started off like gangbusters so I think we forget how good he might be. And the year before he really started coming around.

Banger called Tom scum.

I said I think you are being a bit over dramatic.

That was my wrath? Ok

A poetic stretch maybe
- you did immediately come to the stutterer's defense if in fact Tom is a stutterer! And not that there is anything wrong with that.

Sam was for sure on the decline, forgetting players names and just getting lost in the play. Having said that, as a fan in his mid-30s, Sam has been the one constant through my whole fandom and it will be sad to see him turn over the reins. For all his faults, anytime I turned on another team's stream I felt like they were missing out on the excitement of the game because Sam wasn't there to deliver it to them.

He will be missed by most and hopefully the rangers can send him out with a season that will truly last him a lifetime

Congrats to Sam on a storied career. As much as I find myself knocking him for comments like "Kaapo Kakko shoots on Kaapo Kahkonen, no relation", I loathe when games are not on MSG, and listening to Sean Mcdonough in the playoffs makes me appreciate Sam that much more.

Hey Jan, how do you think Haason RedRichard gets resolved?

Well Tom had said something about retiring a few years too late and Banger called him scum for it, that was a bit too much just for that line. I got a chuckle out of it.

"Like it or not"? I actually like Chytil. He wouldn't be my first choice for 3c, but he brings a lot to the table. Unfortunately, he's got serious health concerns and after Fil, their center depth goes off a cliff. If they're not competing for a cup this year, it's not a big deal. Teams that win have center depth. Drury should add a legit top 9 center. I would try to pry Ryan Hartman out of Minnesota.

Wasn’t singling you out, just seems like people have really soured on Chytil. I get the reasons why. But he seems to have really turned the corner health wise which is a positive.

I’d figure out a way to get Laine. Could be motivated and rejuvenated after a few rough years. He has the ability to be a game changer, it’s only two years then you can cut bait if need be. It’s a gamble no doubt, but it potentially could be a final piece even

Probably need a 3rd party for Laines contract which is probably why it wouldn’t happen

Growing up in LA I strangely got WOR and was more of a Rangers fan as Kings games were hardly on tv in the late 70's/early 80's so I will miss Rosen. Loved him and Esposito for their brief 2 season run and him and JD were pretty iconic. For some reason my fav call of his is a scrum between the Flyers and Rangers mainly Rich Sutter and Barry Beck and Rosen screams "AND HERE COMES HOSPODAR AFTER BECK" with Esposito seemingly half in the bag chirping "I don't think they like each other!"

Pretty awesome career and someone mentioned Alex Faust who had to follow a legend in Bob Miller and my only complaint about Faust and it's a strange one is he was almost too enthusiastic treating it like he was calling a high school game.

Got it. Hope you're right about Chytil's health. Kid found some swagger in the last year or two. Still think Drury should add a gritty bottom 6 center.
