But added $1.64M to the cap ($2.5M if you don't subtract Frasca's cap hit).
- jmatchett383

Frasca was echl. His cap hit is irrelevant.

Hahaha... I wouldn't have unless he put the first name "Madeof" there...

I knew instantly. The only better last name would be Charmin.

In his last 2 full years, he's had one decent season and one pretty abysmal one. If he can find a happy medium between the two, he'll be a decent bottom-6 player (albeit an overpaid one).
- jmatchett383

The median between decent and pretty abysmal is bad, I’d assume.

I still look for them to trade eller (or acciari) at some point as there are 6-7 centers on this roster now. But with these moves, the pens now have 9 draft picks in each of the next 3 years. In 2026 and 2027 they have two 2nd round picks and have held on to their 1st round selections.
- i'mjustafan

I'd like to think they would try too. But the league is pretty jammed cap wise so it's hard to move even a couple million in salary. Thus why Dubas is getting good returns for guys like Glass and Hayes.

Name 1 player not made of glass on the penguins roster now? In case you didn't know "Glass" shatters easily.. Oh yeah, I read on the flyers website..Your a big hit on that blog... I'm being sarcastic. Do you need help with sarcastic also?

So, according to JFresh's card Glass was in around the 100% percentile for ES defense the season before last?

14 goals/35 points in 72 games averaging less than 15 mins the season before last all while being that good defensively?

He's pretty much a point per game player in the AHL.

Only 25 years old.

Sure, he hasnt lived up to 6th overall, and probably never will, but he could be solid for the Pens this season, yet.

- MattStrat

I really had been holding out hope that the Pens would leverage the cap space to get Laine. This pretty much seals the deal that it will not be happening but at least this is pretty good value. I like Glass better than some we have in the bottom 6 and he is still young enough (and under team control) that I could see potential for him turning into a decent 3C.

How miserable you are is felt in pretty much every post you make.

So, I am suppose to be happy at what the penguins have done to win another cup with the core? The following year it's now a rebuild and sid hasn't signed yet? DO you blame him?

To me it looks like dubas lied to the core? No? Have you seen the riff-raff he brought in for another so called run at the cup??? I could have swore he said he would build a contending team and go for another shot at a cup? Let me know when that happened.

Sullivan is still here also, yet I am most certain he would've been canned on any other team in the NHL and you stick up for him, saying he squeezes out the best of players?

Mathew phillips? Carter got a jersey every game also? This franchise has lacked of any kind of physical players for awhile now. They play a perimeter game which is so boring to watch. Hornqvist was the only player that actually played the right way.

Dubas brings in players who have zero value to trade. On a rebuild.

(The Kyle Dubas year one report card with the Pittsburgh Penguins) Read this.
You see I'm not the only one who's miserable.

As tim benz has said many times.."I've never seen pittsburgh fans love "mediocrity". This is so true. What's sad is some fans stick up for mediocrity on here. SO i'm miserable for fighting for what's going on now? Got it...Or should I say..I don't get it..

I don’t like mediocrity but you can’t be successful forever. Mediocrity was their plan, just getting to round 1 and hoping that anything can happen was literally the plan. If that keeps the core here than I suppose it’s ok, but I’d prefer to straight up tank. That being said I’d rather do what keeps our 3 franchise players in a pens uniform till the end. Maybe this will be do it.. maybe it won’t. I’m sure dubas talks to them to find out.

This team is currently where the Red Wings were around 2010. Have enough of an existing core to get in (or right out) as a 7/8 seed, maybe win a round, and out. The decision to be made was 1) let Crosby, Malkin, and Letang stay out of respect or 2) trade all 3 for the best return you can get, burn it to the ground, and hope you can rebuild in the next ~5 years or so. They chose option 1, which basically ensure mediocrity.

Yep. I think the romantic view of sailing off together isn’t looking so great. Sid to Florida, Letang to Montreal Malkin can go tear up the ECKHL for a few years.

but you can’t be successful forever. You try and explain that to this blog of brotherhoods on here. They love redundant play and non physical contact with perimeter players...You can always tell when your right when all they can do is say stupid things like "I don't get it" Or Officer mattstrat with his you spelled that wrong or misused a word? Come on man.

I thought it was interesting that a rumor just came out that last season, there were discussions about Letang being traded to Montreal but it never materialized. I first and foremost want the Pens to actually try and compete rather than fade into the abyss but we seem to have crossed that bridge.

Trade Crosby and Letang to Montreal and Malkin to Florida. I'd love to at least see these guys get another run at a cup.

I don’t think Florida would take Malkin for anything. Dude should just go rockstar it up in the motherland.

That whole paragraph is wrong, you miserable cvnt. You have things in your head that you can't shake, or change, regardless of the fact that what everyone thinks, and says, around here contradicts it. You cant absorb, process or comprehend what anyone is saying. You are stuck. Probably a part of why you're so miserable.

What if they don't want to be traded and would rather finish their careers in Pittsburgh

Then that’s fine, personally I’d rather watch them all go somewhere they can potentially play in some big time games to finish their careers. I’m really wondering if the whole collect draft picks and not good players thing was communicated to Sid and the core. The narrative of do whatever it takes to compete while they’re still playing, to let’s build for the future happened rather abruptly.

It was always going to fall apart eventually. Dubas wasn't hired to bring this core group a cup. It's been obvious from the start.

I still wouldn’t rule out moving some of these draft assets we’re stockpiling for a forward or two to cobble one last semi-competitive roster to ride out Sid’s final contract next offseason.

Meh, so far that's just coming from Madden. Same as Malkin leaving after this year. Who knows though, maybe it will be true at some point if this year is the disaster we fear
