The difference is I want to acknowledge the differences in order to do better. You want to ignore them as if they don’t exist.
- anti-lame

Ohh believe me, they do exist. I know that.

You are I, are an easy example.

Take a break from the propaganda that’s spewed out at you constantly, and realize that you are a pawn just like those you feel should “do better”.

Or be stupid, and obedient. Have it your way.

Interesting that you don’t like real life examples because they don’t fit your narrative.

So you feel worse for the people spreading hate speech and being arrested for it than the people being physically terrorized, do I have that right? Thats one way to live you life I guess.

No one has brainwashed me. Deciding not to be sh!tty or hateful was not someone else’s choice for me.

You’ve been brainwashed into thinking hate speech is just “speaking your mind”

I will say it again. Hate speech is not free speech. Especially propaganda that incorrectly incites violence against a minority group. Maybe those people are brainwashed.. is that possible?

Don’t know if anyone is paying attention to what’s going on in England. Wow scary. Most of this board would be in prison lol.

That sh!t is not free speech. It’s hate speech. .

The problem is whoever is in power defines what is hate speech. And the threat of violence has been the number one excuse every tyrannical government has used to strip its citizens of their human rights.

Speech laws are wonderful when you agree with the opinions of the powers that be but devastating when you don’t agree with those in power. Let all opinions out in the open even the nasty ones since it is better to laugh and demean the idiocy then it is to try a censor. Censorship makes the moronic views seem more correct.

We are getting somewhere. Yes, they are also influenced.

Even though forced multi culturalism is a price we all have to pay for, it’s real - and not going anywhere.

Would serve individuals like yourself to realize that the big white boogie man, or vice versa isn’t actually the reason for the struggles in the world today.

The rich keep getting richer, the powerful gaining more power. While the peons in Rome fight for bread blaming each other.

You are learning.

Better for who exactly?

There was a time where hate speech was pretty definable and agreed by most. But in this instance, folks are trying to tell me that right wing propaganda targeting Muslims - incorrectly - which has incited violence against this group - should be allowed under free speech. It’s not free speech.

Hate speech is an emotive thing. It’s made to throttle free speech. People conflate hate speech and hate crime. Isn’t every crime a hate crime since its origin is in greed, envy and strife.

Misinformation, disinformation, and the latest malformation are bull**** words made up to kill your free speech. There is only information. Information you accept or reject. God gave you a brain. You can decide what information is valid, truthful, or lies. No one else should be granted the power to tell you what you can think, see, or say.

There also used to be a thing called facts. But don’t let that tell me the earth isn’t flat 😆

Purposely lying and saying the killer is Muslim so that violence against that group occurs - that’s not misinformation to you? Just information you can do what you want with? The problem with this is you’re enabling dangerous people to act upon their own facts or truths

I don’t like racists. I see a man for as a man until he or she proves they are not worthy of respect. Personally I’d rather the ignorant be out in the open. I also believe in free speech. I don’t care how hateful it is. I also think loud mouth punks should get a beat down within reason.
I don’t agree with speech police monitoring social media sites looking for offense.
Yeah this is a hockey site. IMO silence is no longer an option.
When an actual elected official calls for Trump and Musk interview be taken offline that’s a problem. When a White House press reporter asks the press secretary what can be done to stop misinformation on that live stream interview the principals of this country are breaking down.
Musk asked Kamala to come and do an interview. I don’t like the VP but would support her doing it.

There is really only one person here I can honestly say I do not like at all.
The feeling is probably mutual.

There is truth and there are lies. I don’t accept the introduction of words or changing the meaning of words with an agenda in mind. I’m for free speech. Offensive speech is protected under the First Amendment. If someone yells fire in a crowded building when there is none, that speech shouldn’t be protected.

Ok now we are getting somewhere. I’d agree offensive speech should be protected. But creating Facebook groups to falsely accuse a minority group with the purpose of inciting violence, to me, is the same thing as yelling fire in a theater.

It’s actually way worse.

I’m unfamiliar with that incident so I won’t comment on it directly. How do you know someone is doing something to incite violence? Motives aren’t always easy to decipher.

What do you know - it’s hockey related!

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5y38gjp4ygo

perhaps I was wrong that it was started by the far right. It’s a site that was previously Russian owned but claims no affiliation. Fine, not going to assume it’s that. But it’s apparently been mass spread and shared on social media by UK Steve bannon types and other far-right entities. Which is what is being blamed for the violence. Give lunatics an inch and they take a mile.

Idk man, I don’t think saying “it’s only an internet post” when some woman posts on Facebook to “bomb all the mosques” and is arrested for it is the foul we should be crying

You sound like Roseann Rosanadanna from SNL, when she says “never mind” after a rant that was wrong and off topic.

After you found out it was a Russian owned site, you backtracked. Prior to that, you said some “far right lunatic was spreading the hate speech”. It just goes to show, people spew rhetoric based of misinformation. Speaking of “misinformation, hate speech, etc.” what if the government put that out there as a false flag, or disinformation campaign, with the express purpose of getting you to allow them more control over what you see and hear?

It is far better to allow us to determine what we see and hear, filter out the nonsense, and make people pay for their dumb sh!t, than rely on a government that doesn’t give sh!t about you, the power to define it.

If I heard someone call the black fellow on here, Lamont, in person, he’d have to deal with me. Never mind a government speech police czar.

When are you going to realize this is all designed to get you to conform and obey?

When someone says “this isn’t my grandpops country”, it’s not to be free to yell fire in a crowded theater, it’s the freedom to be yourself, and think for yourself.

It’s not complicated my friend.

Wake up……..it’s the opposite of woke!

Most know but for those who do not, I am black. I do have some mixed culture on my mother’s side but I look black and there for identity as such, especially living and working very close to a black community here in Michigan. I think it’s very clear that most, if not all on this board cannot relate and sometimes don’t even care when I call out racism. Each time hello it’s me calls me Lamont or questions my “white side” because he assumes my mother is white, he’s being racist. You don’t have to like me but when anyone turns a blind eye to his comments, you are condoning it. You’re giving him the OK strictly based on how you feel about me. When I call him out or anyone else out, I’m not using my “black card”. It isn’t a card. It’s calling a racist being racist. If you’ve walked in my shoes, you’d understand. I think it’s safe to say most of you haven’t. So don’t attack my ethnicity and let’s keep it about hockey.
