I'm not at all! I told you all TK was one of the best wingers in the game. Not many wingers in the NHL can play even strength, PP and PK, while also scoring 30+ goals and exhibiting grit and great leadership. I said it before and I will say it again, TK is the true leader and is the face of the Flyers moving forward, and I couldn't be happier to root for him night in and night out.

I also think TK is just entering his prime. If they paired him with a legit #1 C, I also believe his numbers would jump. I don’t see him as a ‘face of the franchise’ type , but ya a top 20 W in NHL.

You still don't know what a face of the franchise player is. Doubt you ever will.

Changing your mind again about the Flyer re-signing Konecny.

- MJL

Can you define what the face of the franchise is to you so we can compare and contrast?

Obviously MM is though still want your take.

Thanks. Forgot to praise Milton Williams who has had a good camp. Also contract year, I think.

This guy Tyler Steen seems too passive in temperament to play OL at a high level. You need to be a little mean to play there.

- PT21

Anytime you are vying for an open spot you have to stay healthy…he hasnt. Becton is a large, talented dude who is motivated. Great to see those situations play out. I actually thought Milton William’s out played Davis last year…I have more faith in him.
But I actually liken Davis to Becton….a big dude that has to keep his body in a decent physical shape and not let his weight ballon. Davis has looked out of shape for a lot of his career, although he has trimmed down this year. I see Carter and Williams as the two best DTs.

Re: People who have played hockey

The hilarious thing is Hextall, Holmgren, Clarke, Briere, Jones, all played at the highest levels in the world and we, the fans, all think we know more about hockey and how to build a team than they do. Myself included of course. It’s the benefit to being a fan. I pay my money, invest my time and energy, I therefore have a right to criticize as well as cheer, as do we all. Doesn’t matter if our opinions are right or wrong, it only matters that we all have one. This board is therapy for us dysfunctional Flyers fans. I believe we can all agree on one thing: If they ever do win the Cup, there won’t be any complaining here for a few days 😁

- mikeyo27
I wouldn't count on that at all! I honestly believe there would be complaints on here the day after the Flyers won the Cup!! There are several posters that come to mind.

I just hope he stays healthy and doesn't tail off quickly after the age of 30. He plays a rather physical game for a guy of his stature and seems to get nagging injuries as the season progresses.

Love the player but agree the signing is the opposite of what rebuilding teams do. The first 4 years were never going to be the problem with signing TK….the last 4 could be dicey.

The way I view the face of the franchise is when the NHL network, or EPSN or TNT talk about the Flyers, you see the logo and you see a picture of 1 or 2 players. TK would be player pictured the most for the Flyers.

Not at all. I said from the beginning that I wanted the Flyers to extend TK, unless of course the price was $10M AAV, in which case I would have traded him. I also stated many times that picking 16, 23 and 27 in the 1st round is not going to move the needle enough on the rebuild, but it became clear to me that Flyers have no intention of actually picking players, but instead using those picks in trades. Since that is their plan, extending TK made sense to me. I don't like the plan. I would have preferred to trade players to get a top 10 or even top 5 pick, but it doesn't matter what I prefer. Briere and Jones appear to have decided what they want to do, and I will just bite down hard and hope for the best.

LOL. Bobby Clarke and Eric Lindros are examples of players who rise up to the level of a face of the franchise player. Hall of Fame and iconic players. Players elected to the Flyers hall of fame and have had their numbers retired. That is what a face of the franchise player is in my opinion.

LOLO, just the other day, you posted that re-signing Konecny doesn't fit the Flyers timeline. You change your mind about every other day.

I get why you would think that. But who else would they use?

To me the "face of the franchise" is the guy they are building the whole thing around. Lindros, Giroux, Clarke. McDavid, Gretzky.

Konecny is more of a "who else can they use besides the logo?"

Michkov is going to be the face of the franchise from now on. It will be Michkov's picture you see on ESPN, TNT, and NHL Network.

Of course you would, because otherwise this wouldn't fit your narrative, fraud! I told you TK was one of the best wingers in the NHL ... chock up another one for the good guy!
- jd250

absolutely he is near the top. flyers did a great job getting him at that number. TK took a hometown discount; hopefully others will follow his lead. TK is the kind of gy you win with, what he brings to the room you can't measure. he will lead the new era of orange back to their winning ways.

Or it could maybe be his playoff production in the most important games played. Most recently his 21 points in 24 games in Florida's run to the Stanley Cup?
I have never refuted that Konecny is a very good player.
Remember this post when you whine. As usual, you make a fool of yourself.

in all fairness once TK taste the playoffs with the new era of orange he will thrive. much like RR he is built for the playoffs.

not os sure I agree with this 100%. He will be 28 when that kicks in so no guarantee.

I will be curious to see if he changes his style or relaxes a little now that he has the bag in his pocket.

face of the franchise is who the flyers market the crap out of. Who they plaster all over. who they show in pretty much every clip.

like when hayes signed, he was the new face of the franchise, which was hysterical.

I disagree with this. I feel they should have cut the line, and tried to get as much high end prospects as possible during the next couple of years. Even with the surprisingly early arrival of MM. You can get a guy like TK on the market when you need him. He is not the sort of player teams never part with it.

The return they would have gotten, plus the indirect returns from picking higher because of the absence of a guy like TK, might have given us a solid base where the ages of maturing players would align reasonably well as the team transitions to a contending track. Instead you will have aging players with heavy contracts. EVEN if those first round picks of 2025 pan out, even if Luchanko becomes a stud 3c, and we get a center, and we get a 1D ... 3-4 years down the line, a large fraction of salary will be tied up in Couts, Sanheim, TK when those guys are hitting their prime.

Hard to compete with that kind of deadweight.
