All this talk of college. My wife gets mad she is still paying off student loans for her masters. I work on one of the trades industries and make more than she does.
Some of the certifications are equal to a bachelors degree. I don’t know about that. I’ll never have to worry about finding work my job is on high demand.
Todays kids don’t want to put in the time to make the higher end money.

Well I worked full time as well. When I was getting my BSE not only was I working mass hours, but I was traveling across the country at the same time. I think getting schedules for exams and submitting work was more difficult than getting the actual degree.

The middle child who wants to major in computer science feels she needs 100% focus on school so she can't work. I just have to shake my head and laugh...not work while going to school how much easier do you want it?

That's a really good sign and will be more beneficial to him then he realizes right now. The sooner a young adult realizes life is not a steady experience, the more successful they will be.

I've seen kids do really well in static situations then absolute crumble when they have to juggle multiple aspects of life.

I’ve drilled into my kids that while flawed, capitalism is the best system. That and a good work ethic. If kids today find something they love to do that has demand and become really good at it, somebody will throw money at you.

I take it your in Florida? To each his own and I have no issue with that obviously. The know it all bothers me cause he acts like the only thing to do outside is swim...lol! There are prolly tradeoffs anywhere ya go. I just happen to hate the hot and humid weather, and I don't really mind winter for the most part (guess I like the 4 seasons). It's probably gorgeous down there December through March while we deal with crappy cold rain up here (I actually prefer snow). The canes could get old. One of my past g/f's went to the University of Florida and she stayed there for 6 years after she graduated. They got hit indirectly by 6 canes in one year, and she chose to come back north and enjoy the change of seasons.

It would be a downright lie to say otherwise, I’m just wondering why it’s not talked about more?

The school system, social media that targets youth - it’s all very left leaning - and I’m not that old to have not seen some of that first hand.

Price fixing is a Communist concept. Grocery stores survive on a net profit margin of 3-4 %. I read somewhere it’s 1.6% for Kroger. Anyone saying they’re bringing down food prices is blowing smoke.
