I mean they drafted in the 1st round last draft.
They have their 2nd and a 1st in 2026…not saying they will use it now but if they want to add a big player this season they can and would depending on how they feel about their team when the time comes. - Santo_44
I just checked cap wages and they don't have there 2nd round pick in 2026 but that is besides the point.
Tre has options if Shanaplan will allow it.

Saw my long time family doctor Wednesday, spoke with my primary neurologist yesterday, neither checked my health card lol. Called the x ray folks to get my knee done since it locks up routinely after falling out of bed 3 seizures ago and thankfully they asked for my health card info.. bloody card expires on the 30th.
I’m having a wonderful time waiting at the Service Ontario location right behind The London Knights Budweiser Gardens |

Both have N-MTC with no trade to team so this could be difficult to do.
Does this include Lehner 5M LTIR?
there are options out there but will require some smart maneuvering by Tre and the gang - dmnted
There’s not going to be any notable deals before the start of the season. Even Robertson will get sat is my guess. The leafs sat Nylander for crying out loud, and getting sat is far more harmful for Robertson.

So here's the question of the (slow, summer) day:
What's a fair deal for the Leafs to offer Robertson?
On the one hand, I don't see the Leafs offering him $2.3M.
On the other hand, I don't see them trading him away for only a 3rd round draft pick.

So we moved to Waterdown - a small town - in 2009. We came from Mississauga and before that Toronto - so the Service Ontario branches were massive and going there was a significant time commitment - like you planned for 5 hours.
First year in Waterdown I go to the Service Ontario and it's just . . . empty. There's no one there but me and two workers at two different windows. I thought they were closed or something was up - but that's just the pace. It was beautiful.
Two years later I go back and there were 3 people ahead of me in line and I kid you not - I was seriously put out. Like, "What's with this poop?" I had to wait 10 minutes!
The things you get used to.

Did anyone ever figure out what Laine was in rehab for? Booze? Pills? Weed? Coke?
What kind of junky are we talking about here?
Probably too much getting wasted and playing video games.
He isn't gonna skip leg day on MSL's watch, that's for sure. |

A fair deal? From the Leafs perspective you'd like him to sign a 1 year for up to $1.3m or so on a show-me deal. Frankly that would be in Robertson's best interest as well. No one is coming to make him an offer - no one has and his career high of 14G, 13A in 56 games isn't bad, but his history of injuries is and his size and lack of a defensive game is also. He needs to show the league what he's capable of - and then when he's shown he's worth it, force Toronto's hand.
As we've discussed on here - Robertson very much feels like a player who is a top-6 or bust kind of guy due to his limited versatility. Maybe he could get lucky and fall into that Daniel Sprong role of playing 4th line minutes and just making the most of them despite not being strong enough to play against better competition.
If I'm the Leafs I still want a 2nd for him based on his unfound potential, but that's not realistic. If you're another team? Nick Robertson is worth a third at most - and that's a bit of an overpayment in that he's 22 and has only 87 games over 4 seasons. He has had his issues identified to him and instead of working to improve them has asked to be traded.
We all know there was some serious misfortune that held him back and I like him and I like a lot of facets of his game. But Keefe held him out of the lineup for failing certain duties and responsibilities after being repeatedly asked to focus more on his defense. I think if he signs here there is a spot on 2LW he could earn, but he hasn't earned anything from anyone yet and he seems to think he has. You can't, unfortunately, set his misfortune aside when you look at what he has failed to accomplish so far. |

He was suicidal - mental health was the top of the list. Various substance abuses tend to follow while people try and find ways to silence those feelings. I don't know if he was an addict or just someone who was self-medicating and not trying to deal with the real problem.
He's an odd bird, but I'll never forget him posting from his bed on draft day - and basically looking like Connor4real oversharing. I hope he finds his way. |

the player's assistance program isn't necessarily "rehab", Jonathan Drouin went through it and had no substance abuse issues whatsoever.
but he's our "junkie" now, so rest assured he shouldn't be bothering you lol. |

I too was deeply troubled by the loss of Strub's. They were so good. I would look in every grocery store for brine pickles in the usual spot. I see now there's a new brand popping up in Strub's shelf space in some stores. Bubbies is as good but they are usually in health food stores and are like 11 bucks. Worth it, but Strub's was cheaper. Come back Strub's, come back!

Friedman said after the TDL teams were offering a 2nd. The leafs declined.
Not sure if those offers are still on the table. |
