Corey Pronman of the Athletic is running his rankings of team’s NHL Pipeline, with the cut age 22 and younger. He has gone through teams 17-32 with the Rangers not yet covered. Will blog on this tomorrow, but we’re do you think the Rangers will land? My guess is 13-14 range.

I want him up there for sure, but really do not know who deserves to come off of it. Thats the big issue

It depends on if the rangers plan on using 2 power play units or not

it really depends if Laviolette feels comfortable only having one of Zib or Trocheck to take faceoffs, but he likes having both in case one guy gets kicked out

the most annoying thing is losing the faceoff on the PP and the opponent sends it down the ice

I don’t think we should be in the top half of this ranking. I think Perreault is a blue chip prospect. Othmann is a tier or two below but still very promising. Then we have some energy/role player type forwards that are definitely things every team needs but not anything that should put us in the top half of the league

22 or younger, so Laf, Cuylle, and Schneider in consideration.

I bet Laf doesn’t get near PP1 until he signs long term

The PP didn’t need to be changed much last year so I don’t see that as a priority

He’s already played 4 full season, pretty nuts. He’s got his best 12-15 seasons ahead of him.

I think it’s possible Rangers scratch top 10 with it being age 22, but that’s without researching other current NHL standouts on other teams 22 or younger.

I feel like I’m more excited about othmann then most are. Not saying you guys aren’t but I think he’ll be really really good. Hopefully our Jesper Bratt

SJ, CHI, MTL, ANA, CBJ, UTA, DAL, PHI, NJD, LAK

Haven’t looked at who made the bottom 16 but I imagine these are all ahead of us at minimum .

I think he deserves a lot more PP time than he got this past year, but my worry is that it will just drive up his price even more.

Exactly, that’s probably why he won’t get it til the following year. In a pinch he will but not regularly.

Why is long term impacting the power play configuration?

I think he would rack up significantly more points = bigger contract.

Edit: not saying that’s how it should be. I don’t think the team should consider that when developing lines. They should put the best units out there to win. I am just saying that would be an unintended consequence.

I’ve thought since the beginning with laf that they purposely didn’t give him upper line minutes until they really have to. Which they hadn’t until last year. How many teams 1OA picks take that long to make the the top 6? Can’t be many
