Groaty is committed to going back to college this year, but can still sign his elc with us.

Are you sure on that? I thought signing an NHL or ELC contract negated your NCAA eligibility.

I don't like this trade one bit.

It’s one for one. I think it’s a marginal upgrade.

If McGroaty can skate he’ll be really really good. I think he has significantly more upside where the trade is a no brainer. I loved Yager though. That’s a tough hit.

Hopefully he’s not as big of a wussy.

He has decent size and plays “with a bit of physicality”

He seems to be a very Winnipeg type of player vs what we would normally draft.

Marshall was on Twitter and he, or someone who replied to him, made a good point - a lot of us overvalue Yager considering he was the first "top" prospect we've had since probably we drafted in 2012. To most teams, he is just a normal prospect.

The HockeyNews for their mid-season prospects rankings had Yager at 46 and McGroarty at 37. So its a pretty marginal upgrade, but i do think Pittsburgh gets the better player.

Wish there had been a way to get the deal done without prospects and only used picks.

I’ve read a few places his skating isn’t “bad” but it’s one of his lesser traits, which lines up with all our other prospects lol

From a Flyers or Penguins perspective?
