Yes. Last year Florida State went undefeated and won the ACC, however their #1 and 2 QBs got hurt, so the playoffs committee kept them off because they viewed FSU as not one of the best 4 teams with injuries considered.

Also, Georgia went undefeated and lost the sec championship game, so they were left out too (they had a bunch of injuries, but those players would have been ready for the playoffs). And absolutely murdered FSU in the Orange Bowl (5 vs 6).

I don't even know what "BCS" actually stands for but this all sounds very odd to me, mainly because transparency regarding the algorithm and the parameters being used shouldn't be an issue, as such things being kept secret can only exacerbate doubt and suspicion, especially when we're talking about sports at a high level.
