[Only $8M is actually salary, the rest of the $112M is signing bonus.

That is lockout protection!

it's still a 14M cap hit though for the team, even if the salary cap is going up they won't really be able to take advantage of that lol.

They will eventually. Just not in the first year or two. The cap is going to jump DRAMATICALLY soon. If not for escrow and the cap on increase %, the salary cap would likely be at or above $100 million already.

while I get what you're saying, relatively speaking compared to other teams they won't be able to take advantage of it as much, since they won't be able to spread out the salary throughout the roster with so much invested in only 2 forwards...

i feel you. it sounds worse now because we're not used to hearing that number or whatever. but it will be eased somewhat when the cap goes up, especially if it's going up a lot.

ah yes, the greatest stat ever loll.

well, if it's heavily relied upon to make points in the pool standings then I guess you're forced to consider it.

Hits being a stat was why for that brief window of time Tuomo Ruutu was one of the best picks in the really late rounds 20ish goals and 300+ hits

The only guy other than Prime Ovechkin to score 20+ goals and have over 300 hits during that time period.
