Why? LOL. Lets simply look at the 3 most important positions on the ice. Center, defense and goaltending. Let's compare the top prospects for each of those positions and see who has the higher rated players. Then we can revisit after this upcoming season, when the Sharks are likely to get another top 5 pick in what is considered a very good draft, compared to where the Flyers draft. I don't know where to purchase a crystal ball. That's not what you need anyways. What you need is to find out where to purchase a brain. You need one.

Comcast Spectacor won't greenlight a tank & major rebuild for the flyers. So they have to hit the jackpot in free agency. Or some of the middling talent they draft has to defy their average talent status bigtime!

So, let me get this straight. The Sharks have already sucked for how many years? They played to horrible attendance the past couple of years if I'm not mistaken? And their fans most likely have to wait 5 more years to be true contenders? I was just throwing the money angle out there for $hits and giggles. The fact is that they have been a horrid team for a few years now and will have no hope of winning for most likely at least 5 more years, and even then nothing will be guaranteed. To play the devils advocate here. What did those years get the Sharks? The Flyers went to the Finals in 1997 and 2010 in that timeframe. They also went to the Conference Finals in 2000, 2004 and 2008. They should have won Cups in 2000 and 2010. The Sharks only made the Finals once and never won a Cup. They have now missed 6 straight years and that will continue for the next few seasons most likely. They were basically an AHL team last year with an abominable goal differential. Gave up 10 goals in back to back games. It appears that the Flyers way can work just as well. Either way you need some breaks and luck along the way. They are choosing to rebuild on the fly. Tanking is not the Flyers way and never will be. If you hate it there are 31 other teams to root for. I mean, people know these facts, so what gives? And yes, the last 12 years have been a disgrace in Flyers land, but that isn't because of their philosophy as much as it is an ode to their incompetent management.
