He was willing to come here, but wouldn't sign an extension. Just being fair, at his cost, that's a smart move by Adams. Can't let NE put us over a barrel on the extension or walk after 1 season.

What is the price of changing the narrative and prove to the league the sabres are serious about winning?

What I wrote really has nothing to do with that! And I would have taken Hutson or Brunice over that Trade.
- Buff36

They clearly didn't see anyone worth grabbing. And they took Kleber so I doubt they would go D again. There will be mort Hutson's and Brunicke's to draft in the second next year.

I never said he was good, that is your assumption if what I said.
I said he fit the profile of what they wanted,
Fast
Tenacious
PK 'er
Provides tertiary scoring with 2 points

There is a difference.

- IonSabres

You're definitely insinuating he is. Furthermore, you go on to list his qualities when he isn't that good at any of those things, including scoring. He had 6 goals last year and he's providing tertiary scoring??? Come on my friend, that's stretched to breaking point.

But conversely, if he's bad, and you agree he is, then why defend the trade in the first place? Because he fits a role? Again, this is how bad teams stay bad.

Those are the qualities of your typical energy guy...or replacement level player. Let's be serious, ANY other team gets him for peanuts. Adams is getting frantic and trying to trade for anyone with a pulse. You can like the fact they added some hitting without liking the price paid. I really don't see this as the right hill to die on, it's a comically bad return for us.

I'd say it's a top line acquisition like Ehlers or of that ilk. If we were actually aggressive, like Washington or St Louis was this offseason as examples, we could start turning that around. Instead, we only brought in bottom6 forwards and shipped out quality pieces to do so. If anything, I'd assume we took another step away from rectifying that this offseason. Malenstyn and McLeod are not changing perceptions.

It was always 'yeah sure you can trade for him'. It was always yeah sure I'll go to Buffalo. It was always the exorbitant cost and it was always the extension.

It's really a nothing burger.

We have the prospects and future picks to overpay... no that's actually what i heard leading up to the off season and even after the draft.

Just don't overpay for that guy cause we could of had a 5'10 D-man

2022 - Adams had high value assets to improve the team

2024 - Adams has plenty of prospects, overpaying isn't a big deal

Adams devalued his own assets and is making desperate moves. This could be seen from Pluto many years ago.

Seems easy right?

Just pretend the last 13 years didnt exist

Only changes happen post Adams

Not Easy, but Adams hasn't helped himself over the last 3yrs to make that change.

So they really never gave themselves a chance to see how it went down. Hopefully Beck becomes a Monster

Based on the trade there is a 38.69% chance he turns into a monster.

If you dive into the numbers, the probability of this happening is -420.69%

Small D, another big RHD or a small wingers were there. 1 or 2 big centermen with low skill sets.

Its a nothing burger in a weaker draft year and we've beat the horse to death.

Can agree we can overpay and that is a solid point given the situation. I just think, if we're going to overpay, we should be looking for impactful players to do so. That's all.

Heard the weaker draft stuff before, still 2 possibilities for middle 6 Defenders. Is what it is

Oh well, Novikov, Strbak, Komarov and Kleber will do for now.

let's overpay for a difference maker instead of a guy to round out the roster
